Morning sickness has become much more severe in recent decades, as our toxic burden has increased. Morning sickness is thought to be triggered by hormone changes. In addition to this, it can also be caused by the release of toxins from the liver into intestines.

Morning sickness is thought to be triggered by hormone changes. In addition, smell-induced nausea during pregnancy is thought to be an evolutionary advantage. Rancid oils are some of the worst offenders. Pregnant women are very sensitive to the smell of rancid oils. This is because these oils suppress liver function and interfere with your baby’s development. In the first trimester, I recommend taking supplemental oils like:

• fermented cod liver oil*

• krill oil

• sea buckthorn oil

• black cumin seed oil

*Add up all of your vitamin A and make sure that you do not exceed 10,000 IUs per day

Your diet, digestion, methylation pathways, probiotic makeup, and gland health each affect the intensity of morning sickness.

If you are already pregnant, here are some things that may help to gently clear the liver and ease nausea:

• Drinking chamomile tea

• Taking digestive enzymes with meals

• Drinking Original Quinton marine plasma

• Supporting methylation with folinic acid, B12, B6, selenomethionine, glutathione, and glutathione precursors

• Eating an enzyme-rich diet rich in cultured vegetables

• Taking multi-strain, high dose probiotics with dinner

• Drinking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in the morning

• Getting good exercise in the morning

• Staying hydrated between meals - avoid drinking liquids with your meals

GESTATIONAL DIABETES

To test for gestational diabetes, OBGYNs have you drink a glucose syrup called “Glucola” in order to artificially (and predictably) spike blood glucose levels. Glucose levels are then tested 1 hour later.

If you pass, that’s it. If you don’t, then you take a Glucose Tolerance Test is given with either 50, 75, or 100 grams of glucose sugar. Side effects can include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Some brands of glucose syrup (EasyDex) contain brominated vegetable oil (BVO), which is toxic to the thyroid and to your baby. (10% of soft drinks contain BVO).

While about 3% of women experience gestational diabetes, the causes are usually diet related. A safer way to determine if you are at risk is to use a glucose test kit from a friend or family member with Type I or II diabetes and follow the guidelines on the next slide.

GESTATIONAL DIABETES - PREVENTION & DIET

The key to preventing gestational diabetes is to:

• Eat small, protein-rich snacks throughout the day. A great snack is a piece of brown-rice toast with homemade pecan butter on top. (Pecans are naturally low in mycotoxins)

• Avoid simple carbs, sugar, and alcohol

• Eat complex carbohydrates (e.g. brown rice, organic oat bran) - rich in fiber, which slows the release of sugar into the body

In addition, changes in estrogen and progesterone balance throw off emotions, leading to bouts of sadness. It is important not to make it mean anything. Keeping a sense of humor can help.

To promote memory and to balance emotions, consider the following:

• If you recently stopped caffeine/alcohol, reach for snacks that boost GABA levels to curb your cravings and promote a better mood: grass-fed beef liver; brown rice; organic oatmeal; broccoli; fresh oranges/grapefruits; lentils; nuts; and halibut fish.

• Take long walks and exercise (prenatal yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong) - the endorphins will promote euphoria

• Write down appointments and to-do lists as soon as the thought pops in your head

• Get acupuncture to help balance your mood and release stress

Best Sleeping Positions During Third Trimester

After the first trimester, the weight of your uterus presses down on the major vein that runs from your lower body to your heart. This can make your dizzy and interfere with the delivery of blood and nutrients to the womb.

INFANT CARE JAUNDICE

One of the best ways to naturally relieve jaundice is to bring your infant out into the sun for 15 to 20 minutes per day during off-peak hours. Be sure to cover your baby’s eyes.

In addition to sunlight, frequent breastfeeding and supplementation with both Quintessential 0.9 and chamomile tea may both help to clear the liver and reduce jaundice.

UMBILICAL CORD CARE

Pack the belly button around the umbilical cord with goldenseal powder several times per day. Within a couple of days, the cord will naturally fall off and heal.

Pat on your baby’s liver by cupping your hand over your baby’s liver and patting lightly. Then, with your baby on his or her back, pump the legs by bending the knees and pressing the thighs to the chest and lightly pumping. This can help relieve trapped gas and help gently clear the liver.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR BABY HAS A FEVER

If your baby is under the age of 3 months, check with your doctor immediately to make sure that your baby does not have a dangerous bacterial infection.

Natural Strategies for Addressing a Fever

1. Fever starts at 100.4F. Babies can easily spike high fevers. Unless your child has a dangerous (and rare) bacterial infection, it is best to let the fever play out. Antibiotics do not resolve viral infections. And most common bacterial infections will resolve with TLC.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SUSPECT A POSSIBLE VACCINE REACTION Signs of a Vaccine Reaction

Hours to days after a vaccine:

Managing a Vaccine Reaction

1. Let your baby’s fever play out (as long as it is under 105ºF). The fever is there to stimulate the immune system and to “cook” the pathogens. (Disclaimer: Always seek out medical attention when your baby has a fever to rule out meningitis or other potential dangerous infections unrelated to the vaccine.)

2. Keep your baby hydrated (breastmilk)

3. If your baby’s bowels are not moving, give magnesium citrate - the bottle lists dosing instructions for infants. This will bring the fever down a bit.

4. Give your baby a tepid hygiene baths (with iodine and salt). The tepid bath will also help bring down the fever.

5. Give your baby 15 to 30 minutes of sunlight per day to boost D3 levels.

OTHER INFANT CARE SECRETS

Many babies these days are being born with block tear ducts. It looks like “pink eye” but does not respond to antibiotic ointments (e.g. Erythromycin Eye Ointment).

Diaper Rash

To ease diaper rash, bring your baby outside into the sun for 15 minutes without a diaper on. The sunlight has antibacterial properties and will help to relieve diaper rash.

After bathing, allow your baby to air dry before putting on a diaper. While air drying, spray the area with Quintessential Marine Plasma (0.9) and then apply a dab of calendula cream. For severe infections, apply nano-silver gel.

To prevent recurring rashes, change diapers every 2 to 3 hours. Look at your diet to see if you are eating more carbs/sugars than usual. Your baby’s skin condition could be Candida-related.

In addition, look at the diapers you are using. Are they gel-based diapers? Many commercial brands use harsh absorbent chemicals and dyes have been linked to skin rashes, while the bleach used to turn the paper pulp white forms dioxin, a known reproductive toxin.

Teething

Instead of freezing a plastic teething ring, cut up several stalks of organic celery into 4 inch long pieces and freeze for 24 hours.

Give your little one a frozen celery stick. It will help to sooth sore gums. As the celery melts, your baby will suck in the water. Once the stick is limp, just throw it away. (Frozen celery sticks pose a very low choking risk. With that said, it is important always to watch your baby when your baby is eating.)

Calming Your Baby Down

BioPlasma or METAB (PCHF) are homeopathic cell salts that help to balance out your child’s physiology. At night, place a few drops of chamomile essential oil into your baby’s bath water and then gently massage some coconut oil into his or her feet.

You can also add 1 drop of chamomile essential oil to the soles of the feet if your child is particularly anxious that day. In addition, give your baby 1 vial of Quintessential marine plasma 0.9.

Summer Fun

15 to 30 minutes of sunlight per day during off-peak hours is healthy for us. It is when your kids are exposed to prolonged sun exposure that things take a turn for the worse.

Sunscreens often contain unhealthy petroleum based chemicals and additives. Instead, look for an all natural, zinc-oxide based sunscreen.

Soothing Sun Burn

To ease sunburns, apply fresh aloe vera gel to the burn area. Then, spray Quintessential marine plasma (3.3) onto the skin and allow to dry.

Healing Bumps & Bruises

When kids get banged up, there are three great ways to get them back out enjoying summer.

Apply a Chinese “Hit Medicine” liniment using a

Walk Barefoot on Clean Grass

Daily Nasal Sinus Spray

Fill an empty nasal bottle with 1 vial each of Original Quinton Isotonic (Quintessential 0.9) and Original Quinton Hypertonic (Quintessential 3.3).

Spray into a nostril, while pressing the other nostril closed with your finger and while inhaling the spray. Repeat several times in each nostril.

Throw Out Your Soft Plastic Bath Toys

Soft plastic bath toys draw bathwater up into the toy when squeezed. This stagnant water often

grows mold that can be reintroduced the next time your child takes a bath and

squeezes out the old stagnant water inside. Instead, switch to hard plastic cups and other bath toys without holes.
