What is inkjet printing? Inkjet printing is a type of computer

printing that creates a digital image by propelling droplets of ink onto paper, plastic, or other substrates.

If you don’t understand complicated words – (Like me)

The printer recreates an image from the computer onto a solid surface such as paper, acetate etc.

This means that the ink is squirted out of the cartridges on to the paper.

This also means that the quality is not brilliant - In fact, the quality is very pixelated.

How do they work? This can be done using one of two

methods.

Thermal Inkjet Process. The print cartridges contain a series of tiny

chambers, each containing a heater. To eject a droplet from each chamber, a

pulse of current is passed through the heating element causing a rapid vaporization of the ink in the chamber to form a bubble, which causes a large pressure increase, propelling a droplet of ink onto the paper (hence Canon's trade name of Bubble Jet). – (Wikipedia)

Piezoelectric Material Uses an electrical pulse in an ink-filled

chamber behind each nozzle instead of a heating element.

When a voltage is applied, the piezoelectric material changes shape, which generates a pressure pulse in the fluid forcing a droplet of ink from the nozzle.

What are they used for? They are the most common consumer

form of printer as they are cheap and easy to find.

Of course, they are used for printing, but if you want to print photos – this is not the best choice.
