TheprojectisfundedbytheGermanMinistryforEconomicCooperationandDevelopment(BundesministeriumfuerwirtschaftlicheZusammenarbeitundEntwicklung),forwhichMr.NiebelwasMinisteruntil20�3.DorschInternationalisconsultantforthisprojectsince2007.
Whenthemainprojectwasdelayedduetothepolitical/securitysituation,Dorsch,togetherwithKfWandourclient,preparedaconceptforemergencyinterimworksofwhichextensionoftheSheikhAjleenWWTPisthecentrepart.

Gaza Emergency Works Programme – Minister Niebel Opens Sheikh Ajleen WWTP
MinisterNiebelpushedthebuttontostartthenewlyextendedSheikhAjleenwastewatertreatmentplantinGaza.AspartoftheGazaCentralSewerageProject,theSheikhAjleenWWTPhasbeenextendedfromacapacityof32,000m3/dto75,000m3/d,servingapopulationinGazaCityof750,000peopleandallowinganendtotherawsewagedischargestothebeachesinGazaCity.
ThisexistingWWTPhasbeenextendedasaninterimmeasuretosecurethewastewatertreatmentforGazaforatleastthenext5yearsuntilthemainproject,involvinganewWWTPtobelocatedatBuriejiscompleted,servingnotonlyGazaCitybutalsocommunitiesinthecentralareaoftheGazaStrip.
Theinnovativeprocessdesignisbotheconomicandenergyefficient,makingfullyuseoftheexistingtreatmentfacilities.
TheEmergencyProjectalsoincludedreplacementofSewagePumpStation�andpressurepipelinesfromthisPSandPS2.
ThiswasalsoseenasapilotprojecttotestwhetheritisfeasibletoexecuteansignificantinvestmentprojectundertheGazaconditions.IntensivenegotiationswerecarriedoutbetweentheGerman,PalestinianandIsraeligovernmentstoensurethatmaterialsandequipmentcouldbeimportedtoGazainatimelymanner.
Intheend,environmentalpollutiondoesnotrespectbordersandpollutionfromGazawastewateraffectsalsothebeachesinIsrael.Thus,thecoordinationwentsmoothly.
Itisplannedtoproceedwithtwofurthercontractsearlyinthecomingyear,onetorehabilitateanotherexistingPSinGazaCityandtheothertooutsourcemanagementofthesludgeproducedfromSheikhAjleenwastewatertreatmentplant.Thehopeistocommenceconstructionofthemainprojectin20�4.

BDC presents its development cooperation activities in Brazil
TheimplementationoftheFederalRepublicofGermany’saimsindevelopmentpolicyrequiresimportantpartnersinthefieldofeconomy,eminentlyconsultingcompanies,forsustaineddevelopmentisindireneedforeconomiccommitment.
Astheaims,i.a.theMilleniumDevel-opmentGoals(MDGs)appointedbytheUnitedNationsintheyear2000,cannotbeaccomplishedwiththepublicmeansalone,there-aligneddevelopmentpolicyunderFederalMinisterDirkNiebel(FDP,until20�3)hasstartedtorelyonprivateecono-mymoreandmore.
Manymedium-sizedcompanieshavebeencooperatingwithdevelopingcountriesforyearswithincreasingeconomicbenefits.
ThereareseveralaidprogrammesprovidedbytheFederalMinistryforEconomicCo-operationandDevelopment(e.g.develoPPP.de)forcompanies,chambersandtradeassociationstosupportco-operationandassistance.
BDCattendedaconferenceoftheeventseries„wirtschaft.entwickelt.global”asamemberonthedaistotalkabouttangiblestartingpointsandsuccessfullyimplementedco-operationsintheareaofdevelopment.
TheconferencewashostedbytheGermanFederalMinistryforEconomicCo-operationandDevelopment.ItwasattendedbymanynotabilitiesofpoliticsandeconomyandpresentedbyGeraldMeyer,managingradiopresenteratRBB(publicbroadcastingcorporationofBerlin-Brandenburg).Thenationwideeventserieshasbeeninitiatedtoadvertisethenewfocusindevelopmentpolicy,thefocusonco-operationwithprivateeconomy,andthemeansforimplementationgearedtowardsthetargetaudience.
BDCwasabletodrawapositiveconclusionregardingthecurrentDorschPPPprojectcentringonwastemanagementatatownof�00,000inhabitantsintheBrazilianstateofSãoPaulo,whichhasbeensuccessfulfortheBrazilianpartneraswellastheGermanfundingpartner.

AsofDecember6th20�3,DorschInternationalmovedtoitsnewofficepremisesinMunichLaim.BeingintheformerofficebuildinginHansastrasseforalmostthreedecades,theManagementofDorschInternationaldecidedtomoveintoamodernandcontemporaryofficebuilding.ThenewbusinesspremisesinLandsbergerStrasse368aresituated3kmwestoftheformerofficebuildingonly.Thenewpremisesextendingoverasinglefloorleveloffersharespacesandsocialareaswithterracesfortheemployees.Thelight-floodedindividualofficesareequippedwithfloortoceilingwindowsinaccordancewithup-to-dateenergysavingstandards,airconditionandnewfurniture.
Astate-of-the-artfiberopticcablenetworkensuresfastdataandwebaccessfortheemployees.TheinteriordesignwascustomizedaccordingtotheCorporateDesignstandardsofDorschGruppe.Twolargeconferenceroomsprovidemodernandrepresentativemeetingplacesforcustomersandemployees.

Duringthepastfewyears,DCAbuDhabihasestablishedastrongcoordinationwithDCAsiasharingsimilarstrengthsinengineeringsolutions,andhasapproachedOmanwithDCAsiain20�2toestablishabeneficialcommunicationwiththemarketplayersandacquireprojectsforthefuturebusinessmarketopportunity.

ThedurationfortheprojectwasfourmonthsandDCAbuDhabideliveredinclosecooperationwithDCAsiasuccessfullythescopeofserviceswiththeappreciationofthe
MinistryofTransportationandCommunications.
AfterfinalizingthisfirstprojectinOman,secondscopehasbeenreceivedfromMinistryofTransportationandCommunicationsforupdatingandimprovingexistingTermsofReference(TOR)forPreliminaryDesignofNationalRailwayProject.
FinallyDCAbuDhabihasbeenawardedforaneightyearscontractwithConsultancyServicesforTechnicalAssistancefortheDirectorateGeneralofRoadsandLandTransporttoprovidetechnicalassistance,carryoutrailwayprojectsevaluation,projectplanninganddesign,reviewconsultancytendersanddesignreviewatallstagesforNationalRailwayProject.
DCAbuDhabibelievesthatastrongrelationshiphasbeenestablishedinOmanbyprovidingworld-classconsultancyservicesandgainingtrustforthekeyplayersofOmanmarket.

CoinedamongstthelargestrealestateschemesintheMiddleEastandconsideredanintegralpartofQatar‘sFIFA2022WorldCupplans;theLusaildevelopment,located22kilometresnorthofDohacoversatotalareaof35,000squarekilometresandisprojectedtohouseupto200,000inhabitantswithaniconic80,000seatstadiumpromisingtobejewelthecity.
FollowingthecommencementofitsservicesinApril20�2,DorschQatar(DQ)hasmobilized,todate,230specializedmembersofstafftocaterfortheneedsoftheawarded�6constructionspackages;
includingspecialistsforconcreteandpavementtoensureworld-classqualityismetthroughouttheLusailproject.CurrentlyDQistargetingthedeploymentof400qualifiedpersonnelbyQ320�4.

Intermsofmeanenergysupply,itwouldbethethirdlargestprojectamongthoseconsideredfordevelopmentonthemainstreamintheLowerMekongBasin.

TheWomanNGOtookresponsibilitytoassignthreecommunitymobilizingworkers(CMWs)inordertocommunicatewithpoorfamilies,topreparethemtocontributebylaborworksandtopromotethewillingnesstopaywaterbillsamongthem.CMWsconducthygienepromotion
amongthefortyfamilies,inadditiontodistributehygienematerials.Theyalsoencouragebeneficiariestoapplythehealthpractices.

WithsigningoftheConsultancyContractonOctober2nd,20�2,DorschInternationalConsultantsGmbH(DI)wasentrustedwiththeimplementationoftheproject“ImmediateMeasuresforImprovementofWaterSupplyinNorthernJordandirectedtoSyrianRefugees”,inshortIMWSNorthProject.Theofficialdateofprojectstartwassetat24thOctober,20�2,e.g.twoweeksafterthecontractwentintoforce(letterYWCwithreference7/�/3�99dated�0thOctober,20�2).
ThemajorobjectiveoftheIMWSprojectistoimprovethewatersupplysituationinsomeregionswithintheserviceareaofYarmoukWaterCompany(YWC)inNorthernJordanwhichcoverstheNorthernGovernoratesofIrbid,Jerash,AjlounandMafraq,withparticularfocusonthesupportofSyrianrefugees,whoarehostedinthecountry,andtheconcerningproblemscausedbytheincreasedwaterdemandintheregion.
Thustheprojectwillalsocovertheaffectedlocalpopulation.Annex�givesanoverviewoftheprojectareashowingthedifferentwellfieldsandnetworkareasfallingundertherehabilitationandupgradeprogramme.TheConsultantisattachedtoYarmoukWaterCompanyinIrbid,whichhasidentifiedseveralareasinIrbidandMafraqGovernoratesforprojectimplementationofrehabilitationandupgradingofwellsandrehabilitation/reinforcementofselectednetworks.

Akick-offmeetingbetweenYarmoukWaterCompanyrepresentativesandtheConsultant’sstaffwasheldon�8thOctober,20�2atYWCofficesinIrbid,mainlytoorganizeandagreeondatacollectionfromYWCandotherJordanianauthoritieslikeMWI,PMU,WAJDrillingDepartment,THWandotherorganizationsworkingwithSyrianrefugees.Furthermeetingswereheldthereaftertoclarifytechnicalissueswhichsurfaced
duringreviewofpreliminarydatasubmitted.YarmoukWaterCompanyorganizedfieldtripstoZatarypumpstationandZataryandAlAqebwellfieldstohaveanideaaboutexistingwatersupplyfacilitiesandtypicalwellsurfacestructuresandtodiscusstechnicalissues,efficiencyofindividualwellsandgeneralsupplyproblems.
OnthelogisticalsidetheConsultanthasrentedaccommodationandofficefacilitiesinIrbidandagreedwithYarmoukWaterCompanyonpurchaseofITandofficeequipment.
AsstatedintheTermsofReferences,theequipmentwillbehandedovertotheClientattheendofproject.AprojectvehiclewasleasedtoallowfortransportoftheConsultant’sprojectstaff.

“LearningbyDesign”istheleadingsourceforthedesignoflearningfacilitiesandinnovativeexcellence.Thisprestigiousmagazineissuedtwiceayearprovidesaplatformforthecountry’soutstandingarchitecturalofficesbypublishingspecialprojectsconcerningalllevelsofeducationfrompreschoolto�2thgradeaswellascollegeanduniversityprojects.

Improvement of the Potable Water Supply for Prishtina Region, Kosovo
InApril20�3,ajointventureledbyDorschInternationalConsultantsGmbHclosedacontractwiththeRegionalWaterCompanyofPrishtina(KURPrishtina)fortheprovisionofconsultingservices.
Duetoitsfastgrowthinpopulation,Prishtina,thecapitalcityoftheRepublicofKosovo,hasbeensufferingfromwatershortagesandfrominsufficientwaterquality.Theprojectwilladdresstheseproblemsthroughtheconstructionofnewrawwatertransportfacilitiesandtheconstructionofanewwatertreatmentplant.KURPrishtinaisprovidingitsservicestoabout560,000inhabitantsinthecapitalofPrishtina(approx.350,000inhabitants)andinthesurroundings.TheservicesprovidedbyDorschwillcomprisethereviewofexistingstudies,thepreparationofdesignsandtenderdocuments,assistancetotheclientintenderingand
contractingaswellasthesupervisionofconstructionworks.TheprojectasapartoftheGermanFinancialCooperationwiththeRepublicofKosovoisfinancedthroughaKfW-loan.Itwillbeimplementedbetween20�3and20�7.

Thejointeffortofvariousinterestgroupswasnecessaryforthisprice-awardedschoolconstruction.Theprojectteamiscomprisedofalonglistoforganizationssuchas:theDoDEACenter,theDepartmentofDefenseDependentsSchoolsEurope,theUSACEEuropeandNorfolkDistricts,theGermanBuildingAuthorities,SchenkelShultz,theDorschGroup,GarrisonKaiserslauternandtheHighSchoolKaiserslautern.Itwasalargebutproductiveteam,saidTammyCinnamon,projectleaderofUSACEEuropeDistrict.
Afterthecompletionofthe“AdvancedSchematicDesign”whichwaspreparedbySchenkelShultzinclosecollaborationwithDorschInternationalConsultants,theupdatingofthedesignsincethenrestssolelyinthehandsofDorschWiesbaden,stillinveryclosecollaborationwiththeabove-
mentionedinvolvedinstitutions,ofcourse.

ThetownofHürthiscurrentlyprojectingarainretentionchannelwithalengthofapproximately300metresatthebackfillsiteofaformerbrowncoalminingsiteintheareaofSchallmauerCastleinthedistrictBerrenrath.
TheservicesassignedtoDorschInternationalincludeplanningoftheprojectaswellasconstructionsupervisionatthesite.
Duetospecialconditions(lumpsumagreement)grantedduringthetendering,therectangulartwo-chamberchannel,lateraltotheexistingwastewaterchannelDN900,originallyplannedbyDorschInternationalhasbeenreplacedbyachannelinsidethebackbonewithacircularcross-section
DN3200includingfourtangentialchambersandanotherfourstructures.
Thedryweatherdischargeisalsoconductedthroughtherainretention
channel,andtheexistingsewer,whichisstillinagoodcondition,willbetampedafterthereconstructionworks.
ThespecialcharacteristicsofthisprojectarethattheclienthasdecidedagainsttheawardofcontractDorschInternationalsuggestedandhasassignedtheprojecttoanotherconstructioncompany.
Thisiswhyapiperackwillbepermittedatthecriticalbackfillsitewhichdoesnotcorrespondtotherecognizedstandardsofgoodpractice–afactthatbearssomeriskfortheclient.
Duetothisparticularsituation,employingaconstructionprocedurepatentedbytheconstructioncompany,theestimatedconstructionperiodoforiginally24monthscouldbereducedtoaconstructionperiodofonlysevenmonths.
Thismajorchangehasnotablyalteredthesubjectfortheconstructionsupervision,yetithasreducedthetimeperiodaswell.
Singlemainsewerelementsoftherainretentionchannelhaveaweightofabout30tons

ThestationforecourtinWaren(Mueritz)functionsasamultimodalchangingpointandthusincludesthecentralbusstation,taxilotsandacarkpark.
Abovethestationforecourt,thereisatunnelstructurewithafootpathtothehistoricalcitycentre.
Besidesthementionedfunctionalaspects,thestationforecourtalsogivesthecityitscharacteristiclook.Typicalfortheforecourtareespeciallythebigtreesthere.
TheCityofWaren(Mueritz)planstoremovevariousdeficitsinthefieldofurbanplanning,designandfunction.
AsGermanFederalRailways(DBAG)isnotinterestedinrunningthehistoricalstationbuildinganddoesnotconsidertherefurbishmentofthestationsurroundingtheirpriority,thecitysuccessfullyappliedforthetownbuildingloanprogramme“initiativelocationsofthefuture”withaconceptfortherefurbishmentofthestationsurroundingsin2006.
BDChasbeenassignedtheplanningofthestationforecourtinApril2009.Planningobjectsarethesquare,theroadsadjacenttothestationforecourtandtherampstructuresonbothsidesofthetunnel.
TheplanningwasbasedonthedesignoftheA&SCompanyNeubrandenburg.
AboveallthenewdesignwastogiveanewstructuretothestationforecourtandtheareaoftheEasterntunnelexitandtoimprovethelinkofthosetwoareas.
Inaddition,theLloydstrassehadtobenewlyalignedwiththeentrytothestationbuilding.BDCfoundbarrier-freesolutionsforthetunnelexits,sothatbesidestheimproveddesignwealsomightobtainhigheracceptance.
Forthenewdesignedareascombinematerialapplicationswerecombined,whichhavealreadybeenusedintheNortherncitycentreand,thus,putanemphasisonahomogeneousdesign.
Forthebuildingmeasure,whichwaspartedintothreeperiods,BDChasalsobeenassignedthelocal
constructionsupervisionandthesitemanagement.
Thefirstperiodcomprisestheredesignofthestationforecourt.InthesecondandthirdperiodstheEasternandWesternrampstructureswillbereconstructed.
TheworksofthefirstperiodstartedinNovember20�0andwerecompletednearlyayearafterinOctober20��.
Themostchallengingpartsweretherampstructures.Thereasonsforthiswerethelocationoftheplannedstructuresverynearthemastfoundation,thetechnicallychallenginglinktotheexistingfootpathtunnel,thecomplexretainingwallanchorageandbuildingingroundwater.
TheofficialapprovaloftheplansdocumentsfortherampweresubmittedtotheFederalRailwayAuthorityinordertoobtaintheplanningauthorization.
Accordingtotheplan,theworksontherampstructuresaretobecompletedinOctober20�4.
