JRC response to global challenges

The JRC is committed to further improve the framework conditions –ecosystem for cooperation between the EU research and industry by:

• providing access to its RIs

• monitoring knowledge transfer activities bringing together the major European RTOs in the TTO Circle

• assisting EU Regions in the design and implementation of their S3 with the Smart Specialisation Platform

• fostering the permanent dialogue between research and industry with the European Forum for Science and Industry

Transnational Access / FP7

Three RIs offered transnational access (TA) under the European research infrastructures networks of FP7:

Cyclotron Laboratory (IHCP) (2011-2015)

ELSA - European Laboratory for Structural Assessment (IPSC) (2009-2013)

ESTI – European Solar Test Installation (IET) (2011-2015)

Access to JRC research infrastructures

Pilot Projects for Opening up Access

• Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS)

Institute of Environment and Sustainability

• European Laboratory for Structural Assessment (ELSA)

Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen

• Geel Electron Linear Accelerator (GELINA) and Van de GraaffGenerator (VdG)* (EUFRAT Project) Institute of Reference Materials and Measurements

Knowledge transfer between academia and industry have been analysed in 2014 in a series of reports at the country level, in terms of:

• investments

• collaboration patterns

• performance indicators

• policies

To be followed in 2015 by a preliminary

cross-country analysis
