Deputy Head of School Information Package
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for taking the time to seek
additional information regarding the
Deputy Head of School role at TACAPS.
TACAPS is a wonderful school and I
am certain that this position will be a
fantastic personal and professional
opportunity for the preferred candidate.
The current Deputy Head of School has
taken a Head of Campus role in China
starting in Term 4 2015.
The new position is available from Term
4 2015 but I am willing to wait until the
start of 2016 if required.
TACAPS is a great community but as you
would imagine as both a Preparatory
and College Day and Boarding school it
is a very busy place to work. TACAPS is a
lifestyle and I encourage you to only apply
only if you are willing to immerse yourself
into the life of the whole school.
I look forward to receiving your
application soon.
Warm regards,
Simon Lees
History of TACAPS
From an initial enrolment of 17 boys over a century ago,
over 460 students now enjoy the excellent educational
programs and exceptional opportunities that are offered.
Over the decades, a range of wonderful traditions from the
distinctive school cap to the emphasis upon good manners
have become part of the very fabric of Toowoomba
Anglican College and Preparatory School. Our heritage is
important to us for it helps to shape who we are and, at the
same time, provides a springboard to look confidently to
the future.
Beginning with the founder, Mr Ernest Gill, TACAPS has
been fortunate to have had a number of outstanding
educators to chart its direction. Each has brought a
unique interpretation to the vision and, as a consequence,
a richness of learning has resulted. The school became
coeducational in 1972 and a final name change was
introduced in 2013 when The Toowoomba Preparatory
School name was amended to Toowoomba Anglican
College and Preparatory School. TACAPS currently has
Kindergarten to Year 9 students and will have its first
graduating Year 12 students in 2018.
It has been indeed fortunate that the school has
occupied the same site from its inception. New facilities
have replaced old buildings. However, the ambience of
the school that is truly a village and located in such a
picturesque location lives today for the children in the same
way as it did over a century ago.
Nature of Role
As a senior member of the School’s executive team, the
position is responsible for overseeing all operational
requirements across the School. This is an exciting position
to be part of a team to lead the school into Year 12
by 2018.
The portfolio of opportunities would be well suited to a
dynamic, inspirational and innovative educational leader
who will continue to grow our already successful programs.
The Deputy Head of School position is an ideal opportunity
for an aspiring Head. Within this role there will be a
requirement to undertake a 0.2 teaching load.
