The idea is to link our User Community together, via email or the phone, and let them share ideas and experiences independently from our organization’s normal communication channels. Many times we get questions from new agencies that would like to learn more about how Debt$Net® can be used to support business operations. We also get questions from long-time users about how the various ESOs can be used to expand their collection services. These are not technical questions or training questions on how to use the software. Instead, these questions are about business practices that are best answered by others in the industry. That kind of dialog is strongly encouraged at industry events such as the annual ACA convention and our own annual User’s Conference. But we are realistic. We know that the ones that need this information the most are the ones that can least afford the time and money to attend, or need an answer right away. Debt$Net® is offering a new service for2008, and its free! We will be adding asecure page to our web site which willallow you to connect with experts in thecollection industry who are alsoDebt$Net® users. The idea is to linkour User Community together, via emailor the phone, and let them share ideasand experiences independently from ourorganization’s normal communicationchannels.

Many times we get questions from newagencies that would like to learn moreabout how Debt$Net® can be used tosupport business operations. We also getquestions from long-time users abouthow the various ESOs can be used toexpand their collection services. Theseare not technical questions or trainingquestions on how to use the software.Instead, these questions are aboutbusiness practices that are best answeredby others in the industry.

Last month we traveled to Cancun for theannual User’s Conference. It was anevent that was both educational and fun!Justin “Simpson-ized” our staff andattendees played Guess Who? Thewinning group walked away with a prizepackage that included an iPod, digital

camera, free ESO, Certificate for aBed and Breakfast, and cash. Justinalso presented a virtual tour of ournew facility.

Educational components of theconference included a discussion ofthe business advantages that SQLoffers, and how they are ported intoSQL Client Server. Mike talkedabout SQL server technology,hardware and software requirements,while Julee led a discussion on theSQL upgrade process.

The conference was also graced withthe presence of three of our vendorpartners: ClientAccessWeb, PSC InfoGroup, and IAT. Representativesfrom all three companies wereavailable throughout the conferenceto talk one-on-one with attendeesabout their products and industryissues.

REGIONAL TRAINING

Your last chance for regional trainingon Release 6.9 is coming up inJanuary or early February 2008.However, we don’t know where weare going yet, and need your help! We

The regional training series has beenvery popular, and looks like it meetsyour needs for more intense, focusedtraining than is available at theUser’s Conference or through phonetraining. Because of this, we plan tocontinue the program. We will beputting together a Release 7.0package that covers SQL servers andother issues. We would also like tohear from you about other trainingtopics you would like to seepresented as one day regional events.

ESO COMBO PLATE

One of our favorite ways to wowclients is a partnering of two ESO’sthat work wonderfully together:WebAccess and Client Upload. Wewanted to take a minute to remindyou that if you are in the market fornew clients or looking for ways tokeep your current tech-savvy clientshappy, this combo allows you tooffer them some very attractiveservices.

The WebAccess Interface (ESO)allows agencies to interface with aweb vendor. We love the webvendor services offered by ClientAccess Web, but there are others outthere. When you have a web vendor,your clients will have the ability tolog on and view their accounts,submit new accounts, report

payments, and even view reportsfrom anywhere in the world, 24/7.The Debt$Net ESO allows you tocreate a file that updates theinformation available to clients,which is submitted to a web vendor.

When WebAccess is coupled with theClient Upload ESO, agencies canimport placement files of newaccounts submitted by clients fromthe web. This makes it easy forclients to submit the file to youragency. And again, your clients willhave the flexibility to do this anytime, from any where so long as theyhave access to the internet.

As we approach the end of the year,Tech Support would like to remindyou of the difference in the wayDebt$Net® processes date clearances.If your agency runs “Clear Month To

Date” between 12/15/2007 and1/16/2008, both the Month to Dateand Year to Date totals will bezero’d out. This is the way thatDebt$Net® separates 2007 and 2008.Our recommendation is that ClearMonth to Date is run at the end of thelast day of the month (and year in thiscase), or first thing on the first day of2007 prior to any business beingentered. This includes transactionsand new accounts.

For additional information on regularmonth end processes, please refer toAppendix H of the Debt$Net®User’s Manual. Or, if it is your firsttime through an end-of-year process,make an appointment with ourTraining Department for a little extrahelp and a big boost of confidence.

WHAT’S IN YOUR SKIPTOOLBOX?Locating a debtor’s whereabouts isoften the key to successfullycollecting a debt. Debt$Net® offersa variety of interfaces to help you getthis important information. Are yougetting the most out of what the skipindustry has to offer? If you’re notskipping already, check out whatwe’ve got available:

Acollaid is a collection industry skiptracing service that provides access toa comprehensive consumer database.The database contains over 120million households – most withtelephone and social securitynumbers. The database is kept currentthrough the more than 10 millionmonthly transactions. Thesetransactions either confirm existingrecords; add new telephone/name andaddress records; or delete records nolonger at a particular address.

Accurint is a collection industry skiptracing service which maintains acomprehensive consumer databasecontaining over 20 billion recordscompiled from more than 400sources. At a minimum, these sourcesconfirm existing records and offermultiple telephone, name and addressrecords.

The TransUnion Collector’sPrioritization Engine (CPE) is aservice offered by TransUnion inwhich data from collection activityfiles is analyzed. TransUnion uses thedata to calculate a score to indicatehow “collectable” the debtor’saccount(s) are. In addition,TransUnion will provide servicemembers with additional information(updated address, tradeline data, andfeedback from debtor) from their datafiles. Debt$Net® can captures thisdata and attaches it to the appropriatedebtor record. The debtor score can beincorporated into Debt$Net®’s ownwork scoring process and used toprioritize collector’s work activities.

Many agencies create notice files andforward them to outside vendors forprocessing (printing and mailing).Those vendors receive backinformation on changed or incorrectaddresses for debtors. Many thencreate a National Change of Address (NCOA) file which is returned to theagency and used to update debtorrecords.

If you’re dealing with deceaseddebtors or in bankruptcy cases, youmay not know that the BANKOInterface allows an agency access tobankruptcy cases and deceased debtorinformation. This service consolidatesand updates bankruptcy cases from allfifty states, the District of Columbiaand Puerto Rico daily, supplyingtimely, accurate, and completebankruptcy information.

The Experian Collection Advantage.Extended Service Option (ESO)provides you with access to anExperian service. Data fromcollection activity files is forwarded toExperian, and they calculate a score toindicate how “collectable” thedebtor’s account(s) are.

In addition, Experian will provideservice members with additionalinformation (e.g., updated address)via a return file.

The Insight America Interfaceallows you to skip trace usingAcxiom’s Insight services.

Lastly, don’t forget to check for skipinformation with the credit bureaus!The Consumer Credit BureauReports Module allows you to pulland print debtor credit bureaureports, as well as view them fromthe Debt$Net® debtor screens. Thisis done using an internet connectionto access Equifax, Experian, orTransUnion. Each credit bureau hastheir own, very stringent connectionrequirements. This ESO returnscredit bureau reports that may betransferred and saved to theDebt$Net® debtor screen to bereviewed or printed.
