FLS: This is not a high-inertia motor and therefore does not require this option for starting.

SETMETH: Use the rating method for a retrofit.

49RSTP: This setting maintains a 49T lockout until the stator thermal capacity is low enough to allow for a successful start. Set 49RSTP < 100/SF2.

    LRA1: 2334 A/359 A = 6.5

LRTHOT1: Although the coordination curve provided a hot stall time of 18 seconds, the operate time of Curve 3 in the SR 269+ at the LRA is 6 seconds. Therefore, to maintain similarity to the installed settings that have been proven over the years, 6 seconds is selected for this setting.

TD1: This setting should always be 1, unless you know that the load will accelerate in less than the locked rotor time.

RTC1: Because no time constant data for the motor are available, set to AUTO. The relay calculates the motor RTC as follows: RTC = 1.2 6/(60 Ln((6.52 0.81 1.152)/6.52 1.152)) = 20 minutes.

TCAPU: The TCU alarm is turned off in the SR 269+, so turn it off in the SEL-710 as well. Normally, this should be set as TCAPU > 100/SF2.

TCSTART: This defines the rotor thermal capacity required for a successful start. The relay prevents a motor start until the rotor thermal capacity is less than 100 TCSTART. From the SR 269+ setting for initial start thermal capacity, set this to 40 percent.

TCLRNEN: The SR 269+ setting for start inhibit enabled allows the relay to learn the thermal capacity required to start the motor and set the initial start thermal capacity setting in the relay. Because this is set to no in the SR 269+, the TCLRNEN setting in the SEL-710 should be set to N.

  • Industrial Motor Solutions Page 4 of 11 20120723

COOLTIME: Although the SR 269+ is set with a running cool time of 15 minutes and a stopped cool time of 30 minutes, the SEL-710 requires that COOLTIME > 3 RTC. Therefore, set COOLTIME = 3 20 + 1 = 61 minutes.

COOLEN: The SR 269+ setting for defeat learned cool time is set to yes.

ETHMBIAS: The SR 269+ setting for defeat RTD thermal memory input is set to yes.

Note: The SR 269+ setting for FLC thermal capacity reduction defines the thermal capacity the element drops to when the current equals the FLC. This setting is not required in the SEL-710, which accurately tracks temperature at and below the FLC.
