PENSION RELATED ISSUES

• Pre – 2006 Officer Pensioners. Pensionfixed by taking minimum pay of each rankinstead of minimum pay of Pay band.Increase in pension varies from Rs. 565/- toRs. 3741/-

• Other Ranks. Existing weightages of 10, 8and 6 years for Sepoy, Naik and Havildarincreased by 2 years, thereby increasing pen-sions by Rs 509/- to Rs 811/-

• Family Pension. Rates enhanced by takingtop of the scale as reference for JuniorCommissioned Officers (JCOs)/Other Ranks(OR) and bottom of pay of each rank for offi-cers for calculation of pension.- Mentally/Physically challenged children to

get family pension for life.- On demise of Ex Service Men (ESM) draw-

ing dual pension, Next of Kin eligible fordual family pension.

- From 02 Jan 12, family pension to next eli-gible family member when Next of Kin ofpensioner is reported missing.

- Unmarried / widowed / divorced daughters above the age of 25 to receive family pen-sion once all other eligible children reachage of 25 years.

ARMY GROUP INSURANCE FUND (AGIF)

• AGIF Insurance. Enhanced from 01 Sep

13, for Officers Rs 50 lacs and JCOs/OR toRs 25 lacs. For details of other members con-tact AGIF.

• Extended Insurance (EI) Scheme. AGIF members who would join EI Scheme wef31 Dec 2013 will be covered for Rs 10 lacsfor Officers and Rs 5 lacs for JCOs/OR.Members will be refunded their one timesubscription without interest on completionof 26 years after retirement or 75 years ofage whichever is earlier. Members who havejoined the Scheme prior to 31 Dec 2013 willcontinue to be covered as per their ExtendedInsurance Certificates.

• AGIF Scholarship Scheme. For wards ofServing members and ESM of all AWES runprofessional Institutes, 24% of actual intakeat the rate of Rs.40,000/- per eligible studentper annum.

• Reliance Group of Industries. Memoran-dum of understanding has been signedbetween Reliance Jio Indicom and AWPOfor placement of ESM.

• Renault Nissan Renault Nissan Chennaihave agreed to employ 200 ESM drivers witha salary of Rs 20,000/- per month with freeuniform, food and transport (pick and drop)facilities. Provisions for accomodation on min-mal payment has also been made for themin Chennai.

REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT

• Paraplegic Homes at Kirkee (109 beds) andMohali (40 beds) for rehabilitation of para-plegic and tetraplegic ex-servicemen injuredduring service (attributable to military service).

• Queen Mary’s Technical Institute, Pune.It conducts rehabilitation courses for ESM,their wards and disabled servicemen.

• Old Age Homes. Home away from homeon Pay and Stay concept. Construction ofOld Age Home Panchkula under progress,completion by Dec 2014. Old Age Home,Lucknow- Registration open.

• Artificial Limb Centre. It Provides artificiallimbs to amputees of Armed Forces.

• Palliative Care Centre. Opened for pallia-tive care needs including all diseases at BaseHospital, Delhi Cantt.

EDUCATION SCHEMES

• Education concession is entitled to childrenof Armed Forces Officers/ JCOs/OR,Missing/Killed/Disabled in action. Full reim-bursement of Tuition Fee including bus fareand Hostel Charges in addition to fixedamount laid down for stationery and uniform.

• 2,825 Children provided grant, Rs 9.69 Cr disbursed in 2013.

VETERANS CELL

• Veterans Cell came into existence in Apr2013 as single point contact for addressingthe grievances of ESM.

• Cell has dealt with over 2,433 petitions sinceits inception.

• Rehabilitation & Welfare Section, also underthe Veteran Cell, has disbursed over 125mobility scooters for disabled soldiers, 1294education scholarships and financial assis-tance to 1606 NOKs/families in the previouscalendar year.

• Army Veterans Grievance Handling Portalinvolving all stakeholders being launched byApr 2014.

• Priority Treatment of Disabled Ex ServiceMen at Military Hospitals.

• Project Milap- An initiative by Army to reach out to needy
