EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP CAMP REPORT

Day 1:

I.N.D.I.A trust organized 3 days Educational Leadership camp at St.Ann’s

Matric.Hr.Sec.School,Madavaram,Chennai from 07.12.2012 till 09.12.2012.

The first day of the Educational Leadership camp started with the orientation by the camp commandants:

Mr.A.VijayaKumar and Ms.S.Devakanni.

Around 121 students (Boys-61; Girls-60) of X and XII std from St.Ann’s Mat.Hr.Sec.School were the

participants of our camp. After building rapport among the students and the organizers, the students

were sorted into 12 COMPETING TEAMS(Boys as B1,B2,B3,B4,B5,B6 Girls as G1,G2,G3,G4,G5,G6)

WORD BUILD

The teams were given a word and were asked to frame different words from it by using each letters of the

word only once. This helped the students’ develop their vocabulary and thinking skills.

CREATIVE ARCHITECTURE

The teams were given same set of materials and were asked to work as an architect to construct a

building of their own interest which involved team work, planning, coordination as a sense of innovation,

creativity and competition.

YOGA

Students were taught the use of meditation, to keep our minds peacefully, avoid diversions and

concentrate on our goals.

WORKSHOP ON TIMETABLE PREPARATION

Commandant Ms.Devakanni took over the session as an interactive discussion over the need of preparing

a timetable for the forthcoming days for completing the pending/revisions of all subjects by increasing

their personal confidence and developing the problem solving skills.

BRIEFING ON AWARENESS BASED SKIT-TOPIC ALLOCATION

The teams were given inputs on the current social issues and were asked to come out with the solutions

through awareness skit. All teams came out with different topics, improving their interpersonal skills.

AEROBICS

The evening session started with warm-ups towards aerobics. Students had games like In the pond, Out

the pond; Simon says, etc., which needed concentration, memory and attention.

Day 2:

The day started with meditation of 10 minutes, recalling the previous day, bringing concentration.

Students as different teams were asked to come out with their doubts on their personal thinkings, career

planning decisions and the difficulties they face in their academics.

THE SQ4R TECHNIQUE

After analyzing their doubts, the students were given group counseling on the memory techniques like

SQ4R that would help them achieve their goals.

MIND MAP

Students learnt to map the minds of their team members in this session through a team game of

arranging the cards as in the given order in the minimum time through team planning and coordination.

WORKSHOP

The workshop was a sort of counseling session on dealing with their basic doubts in general and in

personal in which they came out with the difficulties like diversions they face while learn and during the

exams

CAREER AFTER SCHOOL

The next session was on building successful career. Students had discussions about their plans on career

and cleared the doubts on selection of courses and pathways leading to their aspired career. In this

interactive session, the students were able to get more information about many other careers and

opportunities. This involved developing a sense of purpose and setting goals.

VIDEOS

Some inspirable and motivational videos were screened in the camp which involved developing their

confidence, interpersonal skills, decision making and problem solving skills.

SKIT PRACTICE

The teams were given time for preparing their awareness skit and also human shape formation to be

practiced and executed on the next day

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Students were waiting for the team games. After warm-ups, the teams had games like Tug of War, group

jumps, etc., scoring good points for their teams.

Day 3:

STRESS MANAGEMENT

Our last day camp started with the meditation for 10 minutes, refreshing themselves. The session was

handled by our camp commandant Ms.Devakanni on managing the stress in their lives and also during

exams caused by problems in family, friends, oneself and how to overcome them and achieve their goals.

EXAM PREPARATION

The students were given more information on exam preparations, time management, writing skills and

presentation skills. Their doubts were also cleared

GROUP COUNSELLING

Students were given more information on careers in the field of management through guest lectures from

business schools.

QUIZ

The session was on the test of thinking, communication skills and on English vocabulary. All teams

participated in the event and were eager in learning new words and phrases.

INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Some important tips were given to the students on the subjects: Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as of to

remember easily and to work rapidly through a guest lecture

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

The teams participated in different activities as like Blind walk, Treasure Hunt, Commando Bridge,

fitting-in, etc., helping them develop their individual and team skills in a fun environment.

CULTURALS

As the last event of the camp, the cultural took place comprising of the skit, talent expo and human shape

formation.

The 12 teams exhibited their social awareness skit each on different topics, in which they also exposed

their individual talents. Relatedly; they also made human shape formations

VALEDICTORY

The invocation for the valedictory function was given by the I.N.D.I.A trust organizers. The sum up of the

3 days leadership camp was given to the audience i.e., to the students, parents and staff.

The prize distribution took place by announcing the following awards, rewarding them with the shields,

medals and gifts.

Our educational leadership camp was sculpted well and ended with the vote of thanks.
