Arya Rattan Dr. Punam Suri Padam Shri Awardee

PresidentDAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi

    and Chancellor

    DAV University, Jalandhar

The society today is in the grip of the most gruesome moral depravity and all around us we see young people succumbing to the evil forces rampant everywhere. So, all of us must hold fast to this Ved Mantra as it lights up the darkest recesses of our hearts and fills them with the light of enlightenment, which is what we seek through our association with DAV.

DAV combines in itself the best of two schools of thought – the profundity of Vedic wisdom and the modernity of western thought, knowledge and technology. Therefore, our goal is very clear: through every DAV institution, we are to provide education that enables our children not only to excel in the multifarious professions of their choice, but to develop within them such sterling qualities as will give shape to a more just and egalitarian society.

We are to set and achieve the highest standards in education in pursuit of our mission which is man-making. Let us renew our commitment to excellence, enrichment and selfless service which was embodied by Mahatma Hans Raj Ji, Gurudutt Vidyarthi Ji and many other stalwarts in the creation of D A V institutions.

Let us, as part of DAV organization, empower our youth so that not only do they become competent professionals who can use the globe as their stage but also the finest human beings who can discriminate between right and wrong and strive fearlessly to restore what is just even in the face of the most challenging situations. Let us impart education in its truest sense. Before the gloom that envelops us turns into bleak darkness, let us usher light in our souls by cherishing and adhering to the message from the Yajur Veda and endeavour to become instruments of peace, positivity and felicity. Here, we envision the creation of excellent human-resource through the integration of multi-dimensional Personality Development Programs with the University curriculum in order to produce world-class professionals. Our four main educational goals are:

Humanized Education (to educate an individual to be an intellectual with strong moral character).Socialized Education (to educate an individual who can willingly serve the community).Specialized Education (to foster creativity, well-balanced with practicality).Globalized Education (a forward-looking global-minded individual).

  • The University follows 10 point scale grading system of evaluation as recommended by UGC as per details below:

In addition, the following grading systems are adopted as per the contingency:

Computation of SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average):(a) The SGPA is the ratio of the sum of the product of the

number of credits with the grade points scored by a student in all the courses taken by a student and the sum of the number of credits of all the courses undergone by a student, i.e. SGPA (Si) = ? (Ci x Gi)/? Ci where Ci is the number of credits of the ith course.

(b)The CGPA is also calculated in the same manner taking into account all the courses undergone by a student over all the semesters of a programme, i.e. CGPA =∑(Ci x Si) / ∑ Ci where Si is the SGPA of the ith semester and Ci is the total number of credits in that semester.

    (c) The SGPA and CGPA shall be rounded off to 2 decimal points and reported in the transcripts. The ViceChancellor has the right to amend any of these rulesor may frame new rules, if so required.

To maintain transparency in the evaluation system, every student is given a chance to scrutinize his/her answer sheet free of cost within the notified period after the conduct of examination and declaration of result by the concerned teacher. In case candidate fails to turn up for scrutiny on time it will be presumed that he/she has no objection and will lose chance to scrutinize the paper in future. The medium of instructions for teaching and examination is English.
