The Constitution of Media And Publishing Club
We, the people of mapc having solemnly resolved to constitute
D.P.T. into a sovereign socialist secular democratic republic and
to secure to all its students:
academics, lectures, tutorials and practicals; placements,
social, economic and political; news, unaltered, unbiased, non
sugar-coated; liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and
worship; equality of status and of opportunity; reminiscience of
college life, hostel and canteen;and to promote among them all
fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity
and integrity of the Campus in our power this day we, hereby adopt,
enact and devote ourselves to this instiution.

Whats going on??
IB CLEAN DRIVEA vision can be simply termed as something limited
to wishy-washy nice looking statements that can be peddled around
in the society to earn useless brownie points and can be used to
ones advantage. This time though, it was the vision of a person who
influenced the entire nation to follow him. This vision was Swatch
Bharat Abhiyan initiated by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd
October, the birth anniversary of The Father of Nation.
It was the influence of this man that made the girls of IIT
Roorkee take a step forward and support his vision. This initiative
was carried out in IB under the guidance of Bhawan secretary Dr.
Milli Pant. The clean drive started with the collection and
disposal of plastics and scraps around the lawns in every block and
then proceeded to the mess which needed cleaning. The fridge which
is used to store the food stock was in a very bad condition with
ice-cream seeping from the corner of the upper freezer compartment
and some foodstuffs that had been stored for years rotting. All the
trays and drawers were taken out and cleaned thoroughly and then
kept under the sun. The toaster which had crumcrumps of black bread
was taken out and the machine was washed. The mess which had become
house to spiders was cleaned. The dusting of notice board was done.
It had not been cleaned for ages which was evident from the fact
that it still had the poster of Tarang on it. Since it is a girls
mess the mirrors were cleaned until they shone to say Yes, you are
the most beautiful girl in the world. There was tremendous
participation from the girls of second and third years and little
participation from other girls even though the notice was put up
two days before the event.
The mess workers were allowed to relax as the cleaning routine
was to be completed by other workers, but they still helped with
the cleaning work saying it was an official working day for them.
All the participants were provided refreshments as a token of
appreciation for their efforts and everyone turned around before
leaving to see their (faces in the mirror) efforts shining bright.
Everybody was happy with the fact that they worked on things they
had complained about so many times in the past. Swatch Bharat
Abhiyan gave its participants an imporimportant lesson that one
should not only look for cracks in the mirror of life but also
incorporate strength and willingness to repair it.
M ars Orbiter M ission
TheThe Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its
spacecraft orbiting Mars on 24th September 14 named as The MARS
ORBITER MISSION, also known as MANGALYAAN. After failing twice in
the year 2010 with issues regarding the engine of the model, ISRO
has finally decided to launch its mission using PSLV which uses
less power. The then Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh announced
India's Mission to the red planet. He said Under this Mission, our
spaceship will go nearnear Mars and collect important scientific
information. This spaceship to Mars will be a huge step for us in
the area of science and technology" laying its roots on 15th August
12. It is even less than what a single bus ride for each one of
India's 1.2 billion people would
cost, pointed by THE HINDU.
By sending Mangalyaan into space, India has achieved a unique
milestone of having a space craft that is an epitome of frugal
engineering. The 450 Crores spent on the mission has been the
least
capital invested on any MARS mission till date
Desi Jugaad at its best.
It was only yesterday that other countries thought of India as
one that is lagging behind technologically. With this With this
feat, India now proudly stands as one of the few countries that
have a space craft orbiting Mars. Withthe successful Mars Orbit
Insertion operation, ISRO hasbecome only the fourth space agency to
successfully send a spacecraft into the orbit of Mars. In the
comingmonths, the spacecraft will be thoroughly tested and the
systematic observation of the planet using its fivesciescientific
instruments will begin. The scientists at ISRO have had to work
eighteen hours a day at times to make the mission possible.
The media lauded the scientists for the success of the
operation, socialsocial media reflected the praises of popular
celebrities and multitude spoke of the achievement and compared it
with the World cup triumph of 2011, the view of an alien from Mars
on the countrys stupendous achievement would not be the same
though. If we were to ask an alien what it feels about the success
of MISSION MARS, it would rather express concerns about India. It
would say that a country that still believes in superstitions, a
country where half the childchildren go to bed hungry, country
where women are discriminated against, a country where students
become engineers just for a degree has done something remarkable.
However, it would appreciate the fact that the space engineers have
really strived hard and achieved the
impossible.
Lets all hope that something good happens in the future (like
the Mangalyaan miraculously discovering life on the red
planet).
After all, everybody would love to see aliens giving interviews
on Earth.
DFL LEAGUES ka baap
DFLDFL aka DPT Football League is back!!!! After a whopping pot
of 52k last year, this years edition of DFL looks a newbie in
business both in terms of money and players. After the initial
managerial fiasco and teams being sold off backhand, DFL 2014 saw a
new entry. Other than the super active B.tech people, this year
weve also had a new entry from M.tech, adding to the excitement.
This season has Navi FC continuing its age old legacy (:P) while
Aage Dekho FC has an experiencedexperienced manager leading it.
Ball Blasters FC and Menforce FC are new in business and yet to
experience the feeling of triumph in the tournament. This DFL has
also seen a good bunch of first yearites out to prove themselves,
some living up to the expectations and others
proving to be surprise packages.
DFL without a troll page is no DFL. Some-body came up with apage
dedicated to trolls and campus gossip but apparentlyhis dedication
has runout.
As for the spectators,eeven the dogs dontmiss out on the
excitement. So, the DPT junta is requested to come to the field on
match days and watch the players and the teams fight it out for the
crown. Oh, and how can we forget the new shiny pair of cards that
come out of the referees pocket every now and then (and sometimes
for no reason at all: P). Although nobody has yet been
cursed by red, some have faced the fury of yellow.
