Incremental Innovation Celcom Service

Innovation can be define as the process of making improvements by introducing something new by products or services that will creates value or for which customers will pay. There four types of innovation which are incremental , radical , modular and architectural. In this discussion , the type of innovation that are going to be discuss is incremental innovation.

Incremental or the root word , increment , can be define as something added or gained or the process of increasing in number, size, quantity, or extent. While incremental innovation is known as the modification, refinement, simplification, consolidation, and enhancement of existing products, processes, services, and production and distribution activities.. This type of innovation only involves smaller improvement on such things like ideas, product, services or processes. It is like adding an unique features to a product or service.

In this article , the example of incremental innovation that going to be discuss is Celcom services. Celcom is the oldest telecommunication service in Malaysia. Celcom inniciate their operation as STM Cellular Communications in 1988 with Fleet Group and Telekom Malaysia as shareholders. The point of incremental innovation that are going to be highlighted here is the increment of the celcom service.

When the cellular phone market was opened up in 1995, Celcom upgraded to the GSM900 service and quickly grew to become the largest mobile phone company in Malaysia At the early stage of their operation , Celcom only offer calls services and short message services. Celcom introduce many plan to attract the community to use their services such a call plan which offer a lower rate of calling to the same network. From just only call services and short message services , Celcom upgrading their service and introduce General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and this service allowed the users the convenience of cloud services such as multimedia and mobile Internet networks.
