Outcomes

A brief history of eMentoring in Kansas – moving from problem to solution.

Provide demonstration of the video observation platform and technology utilized to complete distance observations.


Nationally, nearly 50% of teachers leave before 5 years. In Kansas, on average 870 special education professionals leave special education each year. Kansas districts lose between 4

and 25% of their special education staff each year.

Provided to Kansas mentees and their mentors to complete the observation requirement of eMSS.

Topics based on survey of special education directors, mentees and mentors.

Kansas required 3 observations during year 2. Observations are not evaluative in nature.


Of the 114 participating mentees, 101 submitted a total of 289 observations.
