In this Power Point Presentation we will review our Kindergarten policies and
frequently asked questions. We hope this is a helpful resource as you prepare for the
start of the school year!
-Kinder Team
• The building is open at 7:00.
• Kindergarten students will sit in the library with their classes until the teachers pick them up at 7:25.
• Students who arrive after 7:25 will walk straight to the classroom.
• Students who arrive after 7:30 will be marked tardy.
• Breakfast will be served from 7:30-7:40.
• Students are expected to be fully potty trained when they enter our kindergarten classrooms. They should be able to dress themselves and wipe independently after using the restroom.
• Please let us know in advance if there are any medical issues of which we need to be aware.
• Each Kindergarten classroom has a restroom for the students to use.
• Each class takes regular class bathroom breaks at the hallway bathroom.
This is a school wide Intervention and Enrichment Time set aside to help meet
all learners’ needs.
• No parents at lunch for the first 2 weeks of school.
• One Kindergarten teacher will be on duty each day.
• Ensure that your child can open his/her lunch box, drink, and any containers or baggies that you
will be sending with your child toschool.
• Recess is held outside daily for 30 minutes. Please dress appropriately.
• If weather prevents an outdoor recess, the classes will participate in an active indoor recess.
• Snack will be held daily from 1:30-1:45.• The teachers and the school DO NOT provide snack, due to
allergies.• Please pack your child’s snack in a separate bag or
container from their lunch. • We ask that you send your child with a snack that is not
messy and that is easy to open and eat- NO juice. • Some examples of non-messy and easy to eat
snacks are string cheese, bananas, sliced apples, goldfish, cheerios, pretzels, grapes, animal crackers, etc.

reminders, and to communicate information that needs a swift response.
Class Tag App• This is an app that will be used for sending
messages, making announcements, sign up sheets, and sharing pictures.
If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday at school, here are our grade level policies:
• First, celebrating your child’s birthday at school is NOT a requirement!
• Before sending treats to school on your child’s birthday, PLEASE contact the teacher to make sure that there aren’t any scheduling conflicts.
• You may drop off store bought cupcakes, cookies, or donuts to the front office on the day that was agreed upon.
• The birthday song will be sung and treats will be
passed out at the end of the day.
We will be going on several field trips this year! We love giving our children experiences around the city of Houston. We also rely on our fantastic chaperones to help us keep everyone safe!
• Chaperones must contact the teacher before the day of the field trip to be able to attend.
• Chaperones must be VIPS approved- NO exceptions!
• Only one parent may ride the bus due to limited seating, if needed.
• We ask that parents arrange childcare for younger
siblings. Managing 26 5 and 6 year olds around the
city of Houston requires everyone’s full attention!
Thanks for understanding!
We will have several special events throughout the school year! To participate in events that take place during the school day the parent must check in at the front desk
and MUST be VIPS approved. Here is a link to start that process:

We would like to welcome you and your children to our campus! We look forward to working with you and your family.
In kindergarten at Herod, we focus on developing the whole child. Not only do we help children excel academically, but we facilitate social, emotional, physical, and behavioral growth as well. There will be many opportunities for you to be involved at the school. Your continued support of our efforts and the guidance you provide for your children at home will ensure a
successful school year. Thank you for trusting us with your children.
