The city is excited about keeping unwanted shoes out of the local landfill and having them benefit those in developing countries. The new program was advertised in citizen’s utility bills and on the city’s website. Shoes collected by Shoeman Water Projects serve two purposes. New Balance St. Louis, Kansas City and Branson, along with Brown’s Shoe Center, have been donation points for several years but the Browns felt they could do more in the Washington community where the shoe store has been in operation since 1950. “We are genuinely elated to be a small part of the Shoe Man’s global efforts to provide drilling equipment for clean drinking water. We share their passion to help “Move the World,” especially the young who are among the most vulnerable in third world countries,” said Kurt Brown, district manager of Brown’s Enterprises. “Of course everything begins with shoe recycling, and our stores, our staffs, and our customers remain committed to these efforts. We are thrilled that the Washington community has partnered with us in these responsible efforts that deliver the basics of life ... clean water.” For more information about Shoeman Water Projects, visit the organization’s website, www.Shoeman.org.

Brown’s Enterprises and the City of Washington Partner in Recycling Effort

Brown’s Enterprises has assisted Washington, MO in becoming the first city in the country to partner with Shoeman Water Projects to collect shoes in the town’s recycling center. The city is excited about keeping unwanted shoes out of the local landfill and having them benefit those in developing countries. The new program was advertised in citizen’s utility bills and on the city’s website.

Shoes collected by Shoeman Water Projects serve two purposes. The shoes are given a second life when they are exported to retailers in the developing world. The resale of shoes provides jobs and affordable footwear to citizens. Wearing footwear in these areas help protect from abrasions and deadly parasites. Funds generated from the export and resale also provide money needed to purchase well drilling rigs and water purification systems to bring clean, fresh drinking water to schools, hospitals and villages when none currently exists.

New Balance DFW sponsored Pantego Christian Academy's "Panther Prowl". This was a fundraising event in which students from all ages participated in 20 obstacle course stations to raise money for their school. Stations were marked on the back of the t- shirt. From Pantego Christian Academy News Letter We wanted to say 'Thank You', for making this 'Panther Prowl' such a great event at both the Arlington and Mansfield campuses. With your generous support we raised nearly $30,000. This money will be allocated to help with our tuition assistance fund, and contribute to a NEW gym floor. We thank you once again for your continued support of Pantego Christian Academy! We also sponsored Legacy Christian Academy's annual fun run and Field Day. The student's ran 20 or more laps to raise money for a science lab. Laps were marked on the back of the t-shirt.

New Balance retailers involved with the Race for the Cure now have the ability to sell shoes on-site. We feel like this is an exciting development and hope it will lead to an increase in sales and awareness of our Lace Up for the Cure line. There are few stipulations that you need to be aware and have include a link to a one- page document that clearly states the procedures for the program and will hopefully answer any questions that you have. Race for the Cure shoe sales policies and procedures A few of the details that are important are as follows:

1. 10% of ALL shoe sales will be given to the local Komen Affiliate.

2. Shoe sales that are acceptable: Women (Lace Up only), Men’s and Kids, Lace Up slides (no flip-flops)

3. A mission-focused pamphlet from Komen will be provided to retailers and must be given to retailers when men’s or kid’s shoes are sold. This should be given to the consumer with the receipt. GMR will help to facilitate this and make sure that retailers have the pamphlets for their events.

4. We are not permitted to sell apparel or accessories, but retailers, as usual, can display product in their tent.

If you have questions please contact [email protected] Thanks for all of your support!
