LEADING LADIES – IN THE WINGS

Jan’s Journal President’s Message

Dear Friends, In the October Newsletter I referred to the degree of ambition that our Leading Ladies continue to exhibit. As February rolls around, a new word springs to mind. Our group never fails to impress me with their energy, their kindness toward one another, their generosity and their spirit. This month, the word that bounces in my head is RESILIENT. The dictionary definition: re-sil-ient / adj. / (of a substance) springing back, resuming it’s original shape after bending, compression, (of a person) readily recovering from shock, depression. Our resilient member stands strong and smiles brightly. In late December, we were told that we needed to change our direction for the February Fundraiser. Chairman Jill Melkonian quickly assembled her committee and her band of ‘angels’ and a new plan was in the making. There is not a member more resilient than Jill. In short order, she had an evening planned. Please secure your reservation for the February 26 event. You will find details elsewhere in this newsletter. It is affordable and will be an evening to remember, as we see what the FUTURE holds in store for all of us. The Leading Ladies are off and running headlong into the New Year. The eBay fundraiser is underway with items listed and we stand ready to receive more of your contributions. It is such a fun way to earn money for the Marcia P. Hoffman Performing Arts Institute. You will read more about the March (Western Hoedown) and April (Sunday in the Tropics) events, too. Enjoy time spent with your Leading Ladies friends and help us reach our goal for this year. You, too, will recall that I have mentioned that as we move into our 31st year, The Leading Ladies are fortunate to have many of our foundling members actively working with us. Their continued dedication and friendship speaks loudly for the organization that is close to all of our hearts. Please join me in thanking the following ‘true’ Leading Ladies, they led the way to our success in 1981 and continue today; Myra Chandler Haas, Yvonne Gubner, Patty Hackett, Mavis Schwarz and Terry McHarg. I thank you for your support. Together we are creating a Leading Ladies year to remember. Jan Harroun
