Abstract “Improving Publicity for Wiseguys Pizza: A Recommendation Report”

Businesses in today’s day are doing more than advertising through the mail and posting flyers in the neighborhood. Today, most people spend a lot of time on social media and business owners need to utilize this in their favor. Popular social media pages such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter are primary sources of information for people nowadays. The Wiseguys Pizza Facebook page was actually very hard to find and they failed to post information about themselves. They are not active on the page and therefore lack a successful social media marketing campaign. Something as simple as some facebook ads being shared amongst the locals will result in more people hearing about the great tasting food from Wiseguys Pizza. If Wiseguys Pizza can successfully run a social media marketing campaign, we predict they will see publicity greatly rise. Which, in the long run, will result in raising revenue for the local business.

Introduction 

Background and Problem: 

The purpose of this report is to decide which form of either community advertisements or online social media marketing tactics will generate more consumers and revenue for Wiseguys Pizza in Mount Greenwood. Being that Wiseguys Pizza is a small “off brand” franchise they are at a disadvantage and will struggle more considering popular restaurants are in walking distance such as Barraco’s and Rosati’s Pizza. With no active involvement in the community and Facebook as their only form of social media, business is bound to fail due to lack of revenue and little to no publicity unless action is taken. 

Methods: 

In order to find the best solution for the restaurant, Wiseguys Pizza we have come up with one of two solutions. The first solution we implemented while working on marketing on social media outlets is the connection with the community. We gave out free samples, vouchers, and deals nobody in the area was offering. The second strategy implemented was based on our newly designed website and our social media accounts. On our website we made it interactive with trivia, surveys, and prizes, there was also a sweepstake to win bigger prizes. Also when customers give us an email we will send the free slice coupon around different times of the day every so often. Our website will be the sole place to attract customers which is what we will use our social media to highlight along with everyone having a good time at Wiseguys Pizza and the community involvement. 

Major Findings:   

After executing the two solutions, we have found that community involvement is working better than our social media outlet. When asked how they heard about us typical answers range from, “A friend told us about you guys” or “My kids stopped by and received free samples and loved it.” We have also discovered that our promotion of bringing in the family and taking a free pizza to-go has been a success. The amount of money coming in is a lot more than the money we spend giving out in free food making Wiseguys a Pizza very profitable.

Recommendations: 

The problems Wiseguys Pizza has faced could have been resolved with a little extra effort. Yes, with the tactics we implemented it would cost Wiseguys extra money while stabilizing and adjusting to the new change, but in order to make money, you have to spend it. Giving up to $200 in promotions in total every week or two to customers which are not guaranteed they will use, paying $500 for getting a website redesign also with a jumpstart on social media, and hiring more staff as needed when business begins to take off is not a bad trade at all.

Research Methods To find the best solution for the restaurant, Wiseguys Pizza, we have come up with one of the two solutions. The first solution would be, marketing on social media. We would give out free samples of food and vouchers, and other specials. The other solution would be to newly design the website and our social media accounts. As to add surveys, prizes for trivia games, give the consumers the ability to give us their email for special coupons, etc. As we took out time to observe and see which method was working better than the other we concluded that the community involvement was working better than out social media marketing.  

As we choose these methods, the ways of advertising their restaurant. By stating these different ways would help their results. 

To be able to achieve this we decided to divide the work between the group.

Task 1: Social Media Marketing.  

Our first task was to use social media to advertise the business.  

● Social media is used by many people around the world.  ● Social media to connect with customers. ● Social media marketing.  

As one of us did online work, we created use of their social media accounts. For example, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Social media is used by many many people all around the world. As for marketing, they saw that Facebook and Instagram were the ones that were better to use and navigate to upload. 

Task 2: Community engaging.  

After using their social media for marketing now we are interacting with the community around the business.

● Engaging with the community. ● Giving out free stuff and free samples. 

Besides online advertising, we also had help from the community to grow the business. For example, we would let some people know about our specials going on, so they would let their friends and family know about us. We have been also giving the customers opportunity to take a survey and trivia for a chance to win a prize.  

Task 3: Advertising sales and deals.  

As we use their website to advertise their products, we also asked the customers to take a survey to be able to win some prizes.

Social media and the Wiseguys Pizza website were a good way to advertise their sales and deals online. For example, we used Facebook to promote an ad that was made to advertise their sales. Later on we can use the other social media accounts to help promote their specials and their food products.  

Task 4: Analysis of how their business is growing.  

After all of these few tasks, we can now see how it has been growing over time.  

● We could use all the media to see how the business has grown. ● Seeing how many new customers they have gained. 

As we all divided the work and accomplished the growth of the business. We have noticed Wiseguys pizza has been growing due to all the tasks we have done. These changes to the business have been helping them reach their goal and gaining new customers over time.

Results Task 1. Social media marketing. 

After completion of our first task which did take a while to engage in considering we started from scratch, the outcomes were not as expected which is a good and bad thing. As mentioned previously $500 was spent on our Website ReDesign which was supposed to be the base for all of our new incoming customers. Although at first our website had little to no activity going on, but with a little encouragement to our customers coming in we made sure to tell them to check online daily for a variety of incentives. Overtime our ratings on Yelp began going up along with the amount of positive feedback and our Website traffic was significantly higher. We retained a wider following base on Twitter and Instagram and get up to 120+ likes per post.  

Task 2. Community engaging. 

Community engagement has skyrocketed! Between after school and dinner time the Wiseguys Pizza restaurant has become the go to place after school with kids and families. We have begun hosting pizza parties for birthdays, having pizza Friday’s at schools where we cater out, and flowers sent to us from the Hillside Chatham Florists. Business at our shop is more than busy which has allowed Wiseguys Pizza to work on a renovation and expansion in the near future of January 2020. We not only have been able to get in touch with the community and hire some neighborhood teens to help out, but our community loves and supports us so much we have received a $4,500 donation from the neighboring schools St. Christina and Keller Gifted Magnet School. 

Task 3. Advertising their sales and deals. 

Our methods of advertising in the community and on social media started out bumpy as anticipated, but has not stopped blooming since. We have brought in people of different demographics from age, ethnicity, and backgrounds to our little restaurant. Our biggest promotion that has been taken advantage of is our bring the family in and take a free pizza home on the way out. We never fail to get at least 5-7 families coming in per night taking advantage of the promotion. Also, advertising through emails with free slices of pizza at certain times of the day has also been a success. Not only has this broken up the crowd through rushes, but we have taken the time to form a bond between our staff

9  and customers which keeps them coming back. The samples we would randomly go and hand out on the sidewalk had cars passing by pulling over to try a sample and sidewalk traffic where even drawn in to our lovely restaurant. 

Task 4. Analysis and see how their business is growing. 

As a result from all of the positivity and encouragement from the community in January 2020 Wiseguys Pizza will undergo a moderate expansion and huge renovation to the kitchen, dining, and lounge area. Our views on our YouTube Channel is over 2,000 views and 51+ likes. Wiseguys Pizza has become known as a safe space for kids after school and a familiar oriented restaurant and business throughout the community. Being that we have a few parents that come in from the community who are Architects, Legal Contractors, and Landscapers we have even been discounted when doing business through them. Which is a retention of potential revenue which could be used elsewhere in the Wiseguys Pizza restaurant. As you can see on the excel chart we drafted up sales are expected to remain stable in the trend line while gradually increasing overtime. From 2016-2019 there has been an increase in sales up to $1300 which is a great start and will only get better in time.

Conclusion In this project, we found some solutions that would help increase the publicity for 

Wiseguys Pizza and overall bring in more revenue for the local business.  

 

Bringing awareness to the Public of Wiseguys Pizza 

If a restaurant is popular in today’s time, they usually have several likes on their social media page and reviews about different people’s experience with the restaurant. This is why we decided that Wiseguys Pizza required a heavier social media presence. Something that would make everyone want to check and see if they had any deals or giveaways going on. Something that would allow for people to share their location with their friends and telling them to check out this restaurant.  

Advertising 

As a way to make people aware that they should follow Wiseguys Pizza on social media we decided it would be beneficial to send out flyers to the neighborhood. These flyers would not only just offer coupons for everyone to use, but they would list the social media accounts of Wiseguys for people to follow. If we say something as simple as “More offers on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram”, it would be almost sure that people will follow Wiseguys Pizza on social media. Also, email subscribers will also be sent coupons and with those coupons, links to follow Wiseguys Pizza’s social media accounts. 

Marketing budget With our ideas, a budget should be set up. To hire a social media manager means Wiseguys will have to pay a salary of about $49,000/year. It would be cheaper if the owner would simply set some time aside to manage their social media accounts. To send out occasional emails to our customers we would use the vendor MailChimp. It is free as long as we have under 2,000 subscribers and don’t send over 12,000 emails. After, for every 500 subscribers, we will have to pay $5-$10 a month. For our mailings, we would use the vendor Mailshark. For about $200 we can send a complete mailing of our custom flyer to the whole neighborhood.

11   Assessing our information and creating our recommendation With the strategies we plan to implement for Wiseguys Pizza, the business will see a rise in revenue. More publicity will lead to more people visiting the restaurant, which will allow for Wiseguys to push forward. Recommendation As we have been doing this report, we have a few recommendations for Wiseguys Pizza. They have great customer service and great food but need some improvements to help get involved in the community and attract customers to their social media outlets. For example, we recommended adding more photos of the different food they sell. They can also try to modernize their website to today's trends.  

Option 1: Their website might need to be renewed.  

Design their background, color scheme, the font and the title of their website, etc. This would help attract more people to their website. We have already mentioned some ideas they can do in the previous pages. However, they can try to switch it up and become more modern, like other websites nowadays. 

Budget: To hire someone so they can run their website. As for how we already mentioned it would be around $49,000 per year.  

Option 2: Add new HD photos of the food they sell. 

As for this option, it is the same thing as renewing the website. The whole point is to gain the attention of their viewers and customers. As for example, people are attracted to good quality photos and well-organized website.  

Budget: It would be as around the same cost to hire someone to run their website to also upload well quality photos onto their website. Added to that cost there will be equipment needed to take good quality photos and videos.
