Improving people’s health in Bromley
Insert local logo
Our Big Health DayHow well are we doing?
Learning Disabilities
Why are we here?
Autism
What the Operating Framework states:
‘the NHS should ensure momentum is maintained in improving care and outcomes for people with learning disabilities, in the light of the “Six Lives” Progress Report - the Government’s response to the 2009 report of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman and Local Government Ombudsman on health for this group. Using information gathered locally in partnership with people with learning disabilities and their families, PCTs should ensure they are taking action to improve healthcare and health outcomes.’
NHS commissioners and trusts will be required by new guidance to take action to assess the needs of people with autism in their areas, then plan and commission services as appropriate to address those needs.
This guidance gives effect to the Adult Autism Strategy – Fulfilling and rewarding lives: the strategy for adults with autism in England and will be issued under Section 2 of the Autism Act 2009.
