IMPORTUNITY IN PRAYER: LUKE 18:1-8An excerpt from one of Pastor Dandys previously preached messages.

Definition:

Importunity means to ask persistently,

consistently, steadfastly and urgently.

This teaching is important for two reasons:

Because so many believers give up too quickly

on their petitions. Luke 5:2

Because there are occasions you may need to

ask more than once. It is not every request that isanswered at the first tender.

Importunity is refusing to take a No for an

answer in prayer especially over what you have

discovered to be the will of God for your life. For

women, it is the will of God for you to carry your baby,

Exo 23:25-26; Ps113:9, He makes the barren to keep

house, to be a joyful mother of children. If you are

serving the Lord, you must insist on his will. It is His

will for you to be married, male and female He made

them and they shall not want their mates. Is34:16.

Business stagnation is not His will Deut 28:12, Phil

4:19. Always know what His will is for your life, if youask once it does not come ask twice, it may either give it

to you or take you closer to it. This is where some

people give up at the edge of their miracle.

The more persistent you are the closer you are to

the miracle, until your see it face to face.

Importunity or persistency in prayer is not a work of

unbelief.

John 16:24. The blessings of God are in sizes and

phases. You are allowed to keep asking until your joy is

full; you may have some answers, but you surely need

more answers. There is a blessing that will make you

smile, there are others that will make you laugh. Others

will make you shout and jump. Your joy is full when

your blessing is full. There are some blessings you can

keep in the bedroom others you keep in your

compounds, but there are obvious blessings you cant

hide. This week the Almighty Himself will give you a

blessing you cant hide. When your stomach starts

coming out you dont need to tell anyone you are

pregnant, when you drive a new car home, you dont

need for a street meeting. In Ps 138:8 it says the Lord

will perfect that which concerns me. The word Perfect is

the peak of goodness; you have fair, good, better, bestand perfect.

You can have a perfect life, business, Job, career, health,

marriage, financial life if you dont fail in the place of

impunity.

Importunity means asking without been tired or given

up.

Why importunity/Persistency?

(1) Because whatever blessing God promises you,Satan will contend for it. 1 Cor 16:9. Satan

contended Daniels blessing for 21days, just to make

him an object of shame and ridicule. Importunity is

contention in prayers. This is my victory, I can seeit. Between you and your blessings are core

opposition, David saw the victory (the price) so he

contended with the opposition (Goliath).

(2) Importunity is needed because of your faith willbe tried. 1 Pet 1:7 your faith will be tested before

you will triumph; it will be tested before you thrive.

Jude 3, every test is a test of faith, James 1:3 The

trial in your home, marriage, health and is not a trail

of your love, hope or righteousness. Your faith will

be pushed before it will be stabilized, position your

faith until you answer comes. Rom 4:20-21. Byarrangement Satan must be allowed to oppose you to

a point.

(3) Importunity is important because most of thetime Gods blessings speak only in the end. Job

14:14; Habk 2:3; Matt 24:13 he that endures to

the end shall be saved.

They mocked Job. Waiting is not wasting. He that

will come will come. A day is like a thousand years

in the sight of God.

Jacob took all night to secure a change of name,

but till now the name Israel is still alive. Gen 32:24-28;

2kings 2. Elijah prayed again and again till the 7th time. Ikings 18:41-44, whatever you believe you must insist on

seeing it. We live in a generation that is not patient or

persistent. Blind Bartimaeus cried again and again and

again until Jesus stood for him. See Mat 6:7. There is a

difference between vain repetition and faith repetition.

In vain repetition you are asking in doubts and

complaints: such as asking Lord why me? But in faith

repetition you are consistent in the same word in faith.

Importunity should come in the form of faith

declaration.

Matt 15: 21-28. Importunity can be in worship

Dont abandon a beautiful will of God because

the answer has not come today. 2 Chron 7:14; Jer 33:3.

Prayer is not voluntary but a compulsory

spiritual activity. Each time you pray, youre actually

putting pressure on the devil. Believers many times wait

till we are pressured before we pray; set yourself apart to

pray before the devils pressures.

Two reasons why we dont see answer

(1) Mistreatment of others, parents, staff,withholding from people what is theirs.

(2) Willingly going into sin 1 John 3:9.

(3) Refusing to confess them Is 59:1-2.
