In 2005 the first dual core central processing unit was made by AMD named the AMD Athlon 64 X2. The purpose of a dual core processor is to be able to multitask with less possible frame drops or lag.

This processor could still be used today for basic functions like word or powerpoint since it could be overclocked to about 3.2 ghz stably

In fact this dual core 3.2 ghz processor could even be used for modern games as long as the game is running on an optimal resolution (800x600) the most impressive of all is this kicked off our constant progression of the number of cores possible. Today we can see even 8 core processors.

Bitcoin was a currency developed on January 3rd 2009. Bitcoin is a completely anonymous and safe way to exchange currency between two individuals without government influence. This has to do with computing since one somewhat popular method to earn bitcoins is a process called Bitcoin Mining this is a process in which the users power from the computer is used to solve highly complicated math problems and when finished completely can earn a certain amount of Bitcoin. The usage for bitcoin is quickly going up as more and more store are accepting the currency. As time went by people have found more rapid ways to solve these equations using bitcoin optimized machines which, in simplest form, is just a bunch of high end graphics processors wired together.
