Reception Opening Times. Effective
Monday 19th February the School’s Reception
opening hours will be 8:00am – 4:00pm.
Message from Deputy
Headteacher: This term, whilst in
the everyday busyness of school life,
we have had an eye very much on the
future. Year 8 students have begun
the process of choosing GCSE
options, something that will frame
their education over the next 3 years.
Year 11 students continue to prepare
for exams and many have received offers for sixth form
study at Trinity next year- a large number will be in school
at half term working on DT, Art and PE.
Along with my colleagues on the senior team, I have the
privilege to visit lessons regularly and see the excellent work
and attitude that the students at Trinity have towards their
learning, expertly led by a group of passionate teaching staff.
As a school we are gearing up to our students sitting public
exams for the first time and are expecting great things!
Fulfilling academic potential is a key part of educating for life
in all its fullness, still, seeing the students pull together to
raise over £3,000 between the two house days so far this
year is inspiring and demonstrates the student leadership and
commitment throughout the school.
Wishing all students and their families a relaxing half term
break.
Mr B Williams, Deputy Headteacher

Meet the Teacher
Each week we will be doing a short Q+A with staff
members. This week is Miss Chant.
Role: Assistant Head of Sixth form. Head of
Religious Education and Leader of EPQ.
Favourite subjects when you were at school:
Religious Education and Food technology
Hobbies: Travelling to different cities, landmarks
and countries. Spending time with friends, family
and exploring with my dog and making lots of
memories.
Favourite books: Nicholas Sparks ‘The
Notebook’. Anything written by Jill Mansell.
Prayer Request: We give thanks for Miss Chant
and for her role as Head of Religious Education
and her new appointment as Assistant Head of
Sixth Form. Thank you for all the students she
supports and encourages and the commitment to
the subject she teaches. We ask for Miss Chant to
be blessed in her work as Assistant Head of Sixth
Form and in all the responsibility that role carries,
please give her guidance and wisdom, grace and
favour. Amen
We are very pleased to announce that Miss Chant has been appointed Assistant Head of
Sixth Form and we welcome Mrs Copp who was recently appointed Sixth Form
Administrator. We wish them both every success in their new roles.
Meet the Teacher
Each week we will be doing a short Q+A with staff
members. This week is Mrs Copp.
Role – Sixth Form Administrator
Fav Subjects – Geography and PE
Hobbies – Running, cycling, walking the dog and
gardening. Anything outdoors.
Favourite Books – I love to flick through cookery
books. Recently I have read ‘The Guernsey
Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society’ and before
that ‘Girl on a Train’, both very different but both I
loved.
Prayer Request: We give thanks for Mrs Copp,
for her appointment as Sixth Form Administrator
and for all the gifts she brings to this role. We
pray that she settles in well and supports and
develops the plans for the first intake of the sixth
form at Trinity in September. We ask for wisdom
and insight, creativity and joy in her work and the
activities she enjoys outside of school. Amen
EPQ Trip - Monday 19th February . Please can all students attending this trip return their

Year 9 GCSE Art and Textiles. On 24th January, Year 9 GCSE Art and Textiles students visited
the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate Modern. The Art students visited the Modigliani Exhibition
at the Tate Modern and the Textiles students visited the Balenciaga exhibition as well as the permanent
collections to influence their new project. The students had a great time and found it really inspiring.
Chaplaincy
"And Mordecai had brought up Esther, his uncle's daughter, for she had nether father or mother. The young
woman was lovely and beautiful.
When her father and mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter."
Esther 2:7
Family is a huge part of who we are, and this week we have talked about the family we choose as well as
the family we are related to. We reflected on those people in our lives that care for us and help us
through tough times, as well as how Christians see God as their Father. I also set all students the
challenge of showing someone they consider to be family how much they mean to them – something that
we must all do when we can.
Giving thanks for:
A great half term and a restful break
The hard work of all our staff and students
Praying for:
Year 11 revision sessions over the holidays
Our whole Trinity community over the next week
Many thanks and God bless, Alice

Careers at Trinity School
At Trinity, we strive to offer our students the best advice that guides them through the many different
options at KS3 and KS4. Students now have access to more resources to help them make key decisions
about their future.
Students now have access to HEAP 2018: University Degree Course Offers, Which A Levels, Careers
2018, The Apprenticeship Guide 2018, The A-Z of Careers and Jobs and You're Hired! Job Hunting
Online.
Just a gentle reminder about year 10 work experience. Like a lot of schools in the country, we do not
have the capacity to undertake the paperwork that is required to put a whole year cohort through
work experience. This is why we are working with WEX to ensure that the paper work is complete for
every child. The people at WEX will complete background checks on workplaces (insurance and safe
working practices) and ensure that the student has a meaningful experience in the world of work.
Finally, if there are any family members who would like to come into school to talk about their career
to the students then please can you contact Mr Holvey ([email protected]) at the school.
Fry House Day - Friday 2nd February.
Here is a before and after photo of Mr Holvey, Mr
Sherwood and Mr Roylance who changed their hair
for charity. Fry House raised over £1,600 for their
chosen charities Bloodwise & Make A Wish, which
was £100 over their target.
Thank you to everyone for their donations and well
done to Fry House for hosting fantastic stalls and
activities.

Year 9 English Students Meet Local
Author Tim Dickinson. A group of Year 9
English students at Trinity had the rare opportunity
of meeting local author Tim Dickinson last
week. Mr Dickinson is in the process of writing a
fiction book about a group of secondary school
students who embark on a worldwide adventure.
The visit, which enabled Mr Dickinson to gain
valuable feedback on his writing, included an
exploration of the plot and a short reading by the
author. Students were also given the chance to offer
their input on characters and storyline.
