    PROMOTIONWOSSKOW BROWN

Divorce advice from Gary Crothers, family law solicitor at Wosskow Brown.

It is never easy when a marriage breaks down. No matter how amicable the circumstances, it is an emotional situationthat requires the very best professionals to guide you throughthe legal maze.

At Wosskow Brown, we pride ourselves on our friendly, down-to-earth approach that makes our clients feel comfortablefrom the moment they step through the door.

Our free initial advice tells you exactly what you need to do,where you stand, and what the grounds are for divorce and ifyou have them. These appointments often make clientsunderstand that divorce is neither as complicated nor as costly as they may think. Our fixed fees for straightforward divorceensure the costs wont run away with you and payments can be made in instalments.

It can also be sorted much sooner than many people realise. If the divorce is uncomplicated and the proceedings are dealtwith promptly by both parties, the process can be completed inas little as three months.

Wosskow Brown also have experience dealing with morecomplex cases and I have recently obtained the Higher Right of Audience, which enables me to conduct trials in the highercivil courts.

The most important advice regarding divorce is not to leave ittoo long. If you are certain that the separation from your spouseis permanent, begin the process straight away. This is particularlyimportant when finances are involved as it will avoid lookingback through months or even years of bank statements to decide

who has spent and who istherefore owed what.

If large financialassets such asproperty areinvolved, it is alwaysbetter to have whatis known as a cleanbreak settlement, which draws afinancial line under the marriage. This protects you against yourformer partner making a claim on any of your future finances.

If you have any queries or are at all unsure about divorce, whynot book an appointment for our free advice and let us put yourmind at rest?

  • PROMOTIONSHEFFIELD WINDOW CENTRE

It was way back in 1975, when Rubiks Cubes were all the rageand Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen topped the charts, that thecompany was founded. Fast forward 40 years and Ian Hunter, who took over the running of Sheffield Window Centre (SWC) inthe early eighties, is managing director... and with all his fourgrown-up children also involved, this is a true family business.

You dont last that long in the same city unless you receiveconsistently excellent feedback from satisfied customers and as

the decades have rolled by, generations of Sheffield folk havefound SWC to be the first, and most reliable, name they look for.

SWC was also the first Sheffield business to be given TrustedTrader status by Which?, a nationwide consumer champion websitethat not only tests products from washing machines to power tools, but also gives local companies a rigorous assessment beforenaming only the very best on their online directory ofrecommended trades people.

Of course, there have been big changessince 1975 and SWC has stayed at the verytop by investing in new machinery, adopting green policies, and constantlyresearching methods of production toprovide the most up-to-date levels ofsecurity and thermal efficiency.

The one thing that hasnt changed, andnever will, is their old fashioned approachto selling. SWC is renowned for its NoPressure Policy leaving customers todecide in their own time. Whether it beprice, product, or service they cant bebeaten and thats the reason they neverneed to push or pester.

The company, which has premises onOakbrook Road, Broad Lane, ScotlandStreet and Rockingham Street, uses topbrand REHAU a market leader inpolymer extrusion for all theirinstallations. Their multi-chambered profile

When a local business achieves 40 years of continuous trading it is amilestone worth celebrating... so lets pop a few corks and say cheers aswe toast the continuing success story that is Sheffield Window Centre.

  • uPVC doesnt warpor discolour like somany lesser brands. And if youre

worried you wont be able to get a frame to match your desiredcolour or design, dont be. Frames come in a variety of colouredfoils, including cream, black, grey and green, as well as severalwood grain colours including rosewood and oak. You can also haveyour frames sprayed to match any RAL colour so youll have newwindows that look exactly how you want them to.

Good-looking windows are no good if you can still feel the chill but thanks to SWC, you wont feel a thing. Their standard windowshave energy efficiency ratings of A, while their standard double-glazed units are made from Pilkingtons KS glass, are argon-filledand incorporate a warm edge spacer bar to retain the heat in yourhome. Its not just about staying cosy, though energy efficientwindows can help you to make big savings on your heating bill.

Perhaps the most important thing you want from a window is toknow that its secure, that it will keep would-be thieves successfullyat bay. SWCs windows are fitted with a multi-point shoot boltlocking mechanism the best there is. They also fit anti-jemmydevices on all vulnerable opening windows so youve got thepeace of mind of knowing that youll be as safe as possible.

Dont be misled by the name, by the way SWC do more thanjust windows. They offer an expert stained glass service and fasciasand soffits, as well as high-quality doors. These all have HoppeSecurity handles fitted as standard approved by the police, no

less as well as cylinder locks which are anti-pick, drill, snap andbump and again have a multi-point locking system.

Theres more, too specifically, conservatories. Due to theadvances in glass specification, SWC can now provideconservatories, which are suitable for year-round use, thanks toglass which has been specifically designed for the purpose. It offersa wide range of benefits including thermal insulation with solarcontrol, glare reduction, enhanced sound insulation and self-cleaning properties. The company can also install underfloorheating and laminated floors, as well as taking care of the building, plastering and electrical work, so you only deal with one point ofcontact throughout the entire process.

Get in touch with Sheffield Window Centre today they careabout your windows, doors and conservatories just as much as youdo.

  • Its time to drag your house out of the winter blues and give your home some much-needed TLC. Hannah Pearson

has some top tips to get your started.

    BE BEAUTIFUL

After a long and chilly winter where snow fell as far asFebruary, its hard to believe that spring is now just aroundthe corner. The mornings are brighter, the days are longerand were starting to think about shaking off our woolly layers andgetting back outside. But with this flurry of cheerful activity comes the harsh reality thatwe may have neglected our homes during those chilly months which becomes apparent when we see our home in the naturalsunlight.A layer of dust seems to have accumulated on every surface, thewindows and roof have suffered from the lashings of rain, thegarden path is overgrown with weeds and how long has thatstain been on the carpet? It looks vaguely like a mince pie. The time has come to spring clean! No one looks forward to theannual deep clean, but when the flowers start blooming you knowits time to drag your house out of the winter blues and give yourhome some much-needed TLC.With a little elbow grease and a lot of love your house can bebeautiful again and have that fresh spring look. Follow thesesimple steps for a happier home.

Check the roofWith heavy rain, chilly snow and stormy winds up and downthe country, your roof will have suffered a beating this winter. As spring approaches, it is essential to check that no seriousdamage has been done. This can be done yourself or, if thethought of climbing onto the roof leaves you feeling queasy, you can hire a professional roofer instead. If any tiles havebeen displaced, make sure you get them fixed now youllbe glad you did when the April showers arrive.

Clear drains and guttersThe onslaught of rain we saw this winter will have washedfallen leaves straight into your gutters. If left untreated, clogged up drain pipes and guttering can cause flooding, somake sure you give them a thorough clearing out. Also, check for any cracks or wear and tear that might need fixing.

  • Check windowsWinter storms can easily causedamage to your window insulation.Make sure you check for cracks andmake repairs if necessary. Now is theperfect time to clean your windowstoo. Polish them inside and out so you

can make the most of when the sun starts shining.

Tidy up exteriorCreate a fantastic first impression at the impending summer partiesby sprucing up the front of your home. Remove any weeds thatmay have grown across your path, give your front door a goodclean, change outdoor light bulbs, tighten wobbly gates or railingsand add some plant pots, hanging baskets or a new welcome matto the entrance of your home.

De-clutter After months of children and pets playing indoors, your house isprobably in serious need of clearing out. Its impossible tothoroughly clean surfaces and cupboards with a winters worth ofclutter on top of them, so its time to be brutal either find asuitable place for it, or throw it away. Make some extra money byselling unwanted items online, host a car boot sale or donate toyour local charity shop.

Clean ceiling fansIf you have a ceiling fan, it probably wont have been used over thewinter months. If you dont remember to clear away the thick layerof dust that will have settled on the blades you will get anunpleasant surprise when you turn them on. Give them a goodscrub to avoid circulating dust throughout your home.

GardenWith the coming of spring, thoughts turn to our gardens. But if theprospect of landscaping fills you with fear, keep it simple. See yourgarden in a whole new light by rearranging your plants orpurchasing some new garden furniture or accessories. Pressure-wash your decking or patio and bring outdoor furniture out ofstorage for a good clean. Although were still a few months away, theres no harm in giving the barbecue a good scrub before thesummer party season begins.

Painting and wood-stainingTorrential rain can cause layers of paint to slowly fade away, so nowis the time to make everything look brand new by giving youroutdoor surfaces a lick of paint.Think about staining woodsurfaces too. Fences, gazebos, tables, chairs they will all benefitfrom a new coating ready for thesummer.

FlowersSpring is all about adding a splash of colour back into our lives and what better way to spruce up our home and garden? It maystill be a little chilly, but now is the time to get planting so that yourgarden will be a stunning array of springtime colour. Indoor plantsand vases of fresh flowers will bring the natural beauty indoors.

Go greenIts never too late to jump on thebandwagon and start makingyour home as eco-friendly aspossible. Energy-saving featuresmake houses cheaper to run andare a good investment financially, socially and environmentally.

Look out for solar poweredproducts, energy-saving lightbulbs, home energy monitors thattrack your usage, eco-kettles,energy-saving toasters andstandby gadgets to save energyand cash.

Clean upholstery andupdate furnishingsFire up the vacuum and get rid of all the dust that willhave accumulated on your sofas and chairs. If you gaveyour home a seasonal makeover at the beginning ofwinter, now is the time to pack away the throws and thickcurtains and replace them with light furnishings andcolourful accessories. Wash your pillows, duvets andcurtains and get someone to help you flip your mattress.

    PROMOTIONACCLAIMED FAMILY LAW

Going through a divorce or relationship breakdown is oneof the most stressful things a person can endure. As wellas dealing with the emotional upheaval, there are a hostof practical arrangements to consider, which can be difficult atsuch an upsetting time.

Getting the right advice and support can make a hugedifference and help you to feel in control of the situation. Asolicitor specialising in family law should be your first port ofcall.

Michelle Cooper is one of the regions most highly regardedfamily lawyers and she has now set up the first private familylaw firm in Sheffield.

A qualified solicitor for 20 years, Michelle was previously apartner and head of family law at one of the areas leading lawfirms.

She has now branched out on her own and set upAcclaimed Family Law an independent family law firmspecialising in divorce, private children issues like guardianship, prenuptial agreements, cohabitation disputes and agreements.

Her department has won the Yorkshire Lawyer of the Yearaward, she is individually named in The Legal 500 and wasrecently one of only a handful of Yorkshire family lawyers in

The Times newspapers VouchedForlist and was in the top tier with a five-star rating.

Michelle has always prided herselfon delivering client satisfaction andshe felt there was a gap in themarket that was not being filled bythe traditional law firm model.

She says: Most of my work comesfrom recommendations and thefeedback from clients was excellent, but I still felt we could do even better

if the firm was solely focused on the needs of family clients. The accolade that meant the most to me was appearing on

The Times newspapers VouchedFor list. You have to benominated by clients, who The Times contacts to ensure theyare bona fide, and I was in the top tier of reviews.

I realised then that client satisfaction is what drives me and Ibelieved a standalone family law firm would better meetclients needs.

As a small, independent firm, Acclaimed Family Law canoffer a flexible range of cost-effective packages such as fixedfees and pay as you go. They also offer a first free half hourinterview with no obligation or pressure, as well asconsultations outside normal working hours.

Highly regarded Sheffieldfamily solicitor Michelle Cooperhas launched her own firm andclient satisfaction is firmly at thetop of the agenda.

    PROMOTIONMICHAEL FOGG INDEPENDENT FUNERAL DIRECTORS

Michael Fogg Independent Funeral Directors is a family-owned and run company offering a personal serviceto the local community and surrounding area ofSheffield.

Michael served his apprenticeship at independent funeraldirectors in and around Sheffield. Over the next 25 years hewatched the independents gradually get swallowed up bylarge co-operatives, before deciding to bring tradition and apersonal touch to his own independent company.

Many large co-operatives have taken over small companies, but have retained the name and this can be very misleading. If the company does not say independent it is a part of alarge network.

Although a relatively young company, Michael has manyyears experience and training with old traditional funeraldirectors He is passionate about his vocation, caring forfamilies who have lost a loved one and guiding them throughevery step of the way.

He says: Our aim is to provide you with a professional, honest and personal service tailored to your individualrequirements. We treat the families we care for and guide withthe dignity and respect we would offer our own family. It isour privilege to be entrusted with the care of your loved one.

Michael Fogg Independent Funeral Directors is a member ofthe National Association of Funeral Directors and guarantees a

professional, caring service during this difficult period. Theyoffer a professional individually-tailored service thatencompasses every taste and requirement.

Services available include all of the following: funerals, cremation, council-managed crematoriums, privately-runcrematoriums, burial, council-owned cemetery, church-managed cemetery, woodland burials and coffins.

A wide selection of coffins is available, from traditional woodto personalised and coloured. Guidance is available on themost suitable coffin for the occasion and also the following:specialised funerals, horse-drawn funerals and motorbikehearse funerals.

Michael says: Everyone has different requirements and as atraditional independent funeral directors we prefer to becontacted on the telephone and not by email. We believe thisis a more personal service for you and your family. Thetelephone service is 24 hours, seven days a week. You arenever transferred to a call centre like many large co-operatives.A member of the family will answer your call personally.

If you would like any advice or information regarding afuneral, please call. There is no charge for information and weknow how daunting and stressful arranging a funeral can be,especially if you have neverhad the heartbreakingexperience of losing a lovedone.

Heston from Waitrose golden egg,20 for 270g

A classy black box with a simple inscription sentus wild with anticipation before we broke into themost mysterious egg of our selection. And, once

inside, we were even more impressed. A shinygolden egg concealed the most tantalising whitechocolate eggs each imbued with a zingy milk

chocolate and mandarin ganache all nestled ona bed of edible (super paper) straw. It was oh-so

Heston and we loved every bit of it.

chocolate wont blow youaway, the kids will relishthe opportunity to huntaround the garden for

these eight brightlywrapped eggs. And whenthey do track them down,a gentle shake will revealnot only a chocolate eggbut also a smattering ofmini smarties to reward

    their efforts.

Hotel Chocolat white chocolate scrambled egg, 15 for 150gThis thick, creamy white chocolate egg was an instant hit with thepanel, and the intricate decoration was a beautiful bonus. Add invelvety-smooth praline housed in thick white chocolate shells for theaccompanying chocolates and we were in heaven. A very close second.

  • Green & Blackstasting collection egg,17.99 for 525gKnown for its high qualitychocolate (37 per cent cocoasolids, no less) and intenseflavours, Green & Blackshave a loyal following. Thiscollection shows why. Twofull-sized bars of chocolate one sea salt, onebutterscotch, both divineand packed with flavour accompany a truly deliciousmilk chocolate egg. A littleon the expensive side, butworth every penny.

Tesco Doug thedinosaur, 4 for 200gThere are few moreexciting prospects thananimal-shaped chocolatewhen youre a youngster and Doug the Dinosaurcertainly ticks that noveltybox. But while the super-thick chocolate makes foran indulgent treat, kidswill need a strong adultto help break Dougsincredibly tough shell.

Thorntonscaramelcheesecake egg,15 for 448gNot for the faint hearted, this indulgent egg takesinspiration from a classicdessert. The caramelcheesecake reveals itselfnot just in theexplosion on the frontof the egg, butthroughout theshell with flecks of crunchy biscuitand carameldelighting at every bite.

But, upon tasting, wewere sadly disappointed withthe too-subtle pistachio flavour.A nice white chocolate eggbut it wont satisfy seriousnut lovers.

butterscotch, 7.99 for 150gThough the lure of butterscotch

got our tastebuds tingling, wewere let down by the very subtle

flavour. That said, the chocolatewas creamy, it wasnt too sweet

and the flecks of butterscotchoffered a welcome crunch. We

were also impressed by theenvironmentally friendly,
