Homestay AccommodationHomestay accommodation is our most popular program. The Homestay Program provides our students with the opportunity to learn English by living with a Canadian family. The most rewarding aspect of the homestay option is that students, in addition to practicing the language they came to study, have the opportunity to experience Canadian culture through music, television, food, etc. while living with a Canadian family.

full-board AccommodationILSC offers safe and welcoming homestay families, many of whom have been hosting ILSC students since our school began. Homestay includes a private bedroom with three meals per day. Most of our homestay families are located approximately 45-55 minutes by public transit from ILSC campuses.

Half-board homestayThe Half-Board Homestay program is for students who would like to have a little more independence and freedom in terms of their everyday lunch. The Half-Board Homestay Program allows the student to live with the family, just like regular homestay, but it only includes 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner. Snacks are available after dinner for the students. The students are responsible for purchasing their own lunch every day.

Other than having no lunch provided in the Half-Board Homestay program, the details and benefits are identical to the “Homestay Accommodation”.

roomstay AccommodationILSC is one of the first schools to offer Roomstay Accommodation. Roomstay provides our students with the option of “renting” a bedroom from a family. Meals are not included in the package, and students will be responsible for purchasing all their own groceries, beverages, cooking supplies, (including seasonings, oil, dishwashing liquid, etc.) toiletries, (including toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.) Students will be placed with a homestay family and will have a private bedroom. The homestay family will not cook for the students, but the student will have access to the kitchen to prepare their own meals. In most cases, the student will be sharing the kitchen with the homestay family. Most roomstay families live approximately 45-55 minutes by public transit from ILSC.

Alternative AccommodationILSC's locations provide a variety of alternative accommodation options for students, that meet a range of budgets and tastes. Depending on location, students may choose private or shared suites and/or rooms. Options may include furnished apartments, hotels, hostels, residences, or suites in houses. Alternative accommodation will provide a room with bed(s), desk, private or shared bathroom, and in some cases, use of Internet.

**NOTE: The Alternative Accommodations prices are subject to change without notice. Therefore, it is important to check with ILSC’s Homestay office to confirm price and availability.

hz A security deposit of $600.00 at the time of booking. This is to be paid by the student by credit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express). The security deposit will be refunded after the student’s departure, provided the suite is left in the same condition as upon arrival. The security deposit is non refundable if the reservation is cancelled.

hz Payment of one month and tax is required at check-in.

hz No refund of monthly rent for early departures.

pAYmEnt/cAncELLAtion:hz To guarantee a reservation, we require a valid credit card number and expiry date, or

payment of one night room and tax. Cancellation is 48 hours prior to arrival. If the reservation is cancelled less than 48 hours prior to arrival, there will be a charge of one night room and tax.

hz In accordance with British Columbia’s taxation guidelines, the Hotel Room Tax and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) of 14.24% must be collected in addition to the monthly rate. After a stay of 30 consecutive nights, the 14.24% tax collected will be rebated and no longer collected by Lord Stanley Management Ltd.

SFU’s Burnaby Mountain campus is situated approximately 50 minutes from ILSC and downtown Vancouver by public transit. The campus is surrounded by a lush green forest that houses diverse wildlife such as black tail deer, bald eagles, perching birds and creeks teeming with fish. The many trails around Burnaby Mountain offer untold opportunities for nature interpretation and education. SFU provides 3 different residence options for a range of budgets, and needs.

tHE simon HotEL: 14 dELUxE roomsSituated on the top floor of the residential tower, The Simon hotel offers panoramic views of Mount Baker in Washington State, the San Juan Island, Vancouver Island, the Straight of Georgia and the North Shore mountains. Rooms range from 250 to 400 square feet with either one queen bed, or queen plus double sofa bed. Amenities in rooms include alarm clocks, coffee makers, fridges, hairdryers, umbrella, TV/DVD, telephone and high speed Internet access.

toWnHoUsE QUAds: 4 bEdrooms UnitsIn a quiet location on the west end of campus the three-level townhouses are ideal for families. The townhouse buildings offer guests their own self-contained “home away from home”. Each unit has two full washrooms and furnished living rooms. Kitchens are equipped with toaster, kettle, stove, fridge and table for four. For an extra cost some units are provided with a “kitchen kit” which contains pots, dishes, glassware, utensils and a coffeemaker. The townhouse units have four individual locking bedrooms that include a single bed, bookcase, desk and chair. Modern laundry rooms for guests' use are located throughout the townhouse complex.

priVAtE rEsidEncE rooms:Traditional residence style housing is perfect for students on a budget, teams, groups or visitors looking for an on-campus housing alternative. Rooms are single occupancy with bed linens, towels and shared bathrooms, each rooms is furnished with an extra long (78 inch) single bed, a dresser, a built-in desk, a task chair, bookshelves, a small fridge and a closet. This residence features a ballroom and several lounges suitable for catered events and informal meetings. Laundry facilities and pay phones are available in each house. Breakfast is included in the daily rate; full meal plans are available for larger groups. Totem Park cafeteria is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Trinity and St. Hilda’s Residences are part of Trinity College, affiliated with The University of Toronto. The residences are close to museums, restaurants, the Parliament Buildings, the shopping district and Yorkville. ILSC students could be housed at either location. Once the reservation is confirmed, the residence will notify ILSC as to which residence a student has been placed in. All students must go to Trinity residence to check in.

Both residences offer single accommodation, with complete washroom and shower facilities on each residence floor for the students to share. Kitchenettes with a refrigerator and a microwave oven are available on each floor. Telephones with voicemail, and internet access (included in the rates) are available in each residence room (students must bring their own laptop and an Ethernet cable). Sheets, blankets and pillows are provided and linen changes and housekeeping service are done weekly, and towels are also provided. There are coin-operated laundry machines on site. The rooms are not air conditioned.

There are complete washroom and shower facilities on each residence floor for the students to share. There are also TV lounge and dining areas with a balcony overlooking the courtyard on each floor. A fully equipped kitchen is located adjacent to each lounge. The residence doesn’t offer meal plans, but the cafeteria (open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm) is available on site.

and King, it is a few minutes walking distance from many

Homestay

Homestay accommodation is our most popular program at ILSC Australia. The homestay program provides our students with the opportunity to learn English and experience cultural exchange by living with an Australian family or individual.

ILSC offers safe and welcoming homestay families, many of whom have been hosting ILSC students since our school began. ILSC half board homestay includes a private bedroom with two meals a day for 1 week (14 meals a week). Most of our hometay families are located in the greater area of each city in Sydney, approximately 40 to 45 min, and in Brisbane approximately 30 to 40 min by public transport from ILSC. However, commuting time will vary depending on traffic. With half board homestay, the students are responsible for providing their own lunch every day.

Shared accommodation is a popular and affordable living option for international students. ILSC's shared accommodations are fully furnished units or houses equipped with internet access. Bills, such as water, electricity, and gas, are included in the fees. Living in shared accommodation allows students to easily manage the daily costs of living while enjoying their own private time and space. This is the ideal option for independent students.

Please check availability with ILSC Brisbane and Sydney campus accommodation program staff for the booking.

*This program is for the student who is over 18 years old.

Shared accommodations in Sydney are located approximately 30 minutes from Sydney's central business district, by public transit. Accommodations are fully furnished units or houses.

hz For cancellations made FROM 2 weeks TO 48 hours before the arrival date, students will be charged: – On Shore (Inside of Australia) – the bond fee – Off Shore (Outside of Australia) – the placement fee

hz For cancellations made 48 hours before arrival or less, there is NO REFUND of the total amount. If it is made on-shore then no refund of the PLACEMENT FEE.

hz Any external or personal reasons for cancellations (including delayed or cancelled flights, visa rejections, etc) are not considered as special circumstances for cancellation. Therefore, standard cancellation policy applies under any circumstances.

hz Early departure from shared accommodation (students leaving accommodation before the booked period has elapsed) must give two weeks’ notice to the house manager.

hz There will be no refund given for periods booked up to 4 weeks. For refunds on periods greater than 4 weeks, a pro-rated rate will be calculated and charged for the time in the shared accommodation according to the current rate card. The balance will be refunded through the representative if paid through a representative, or to the student if paid directly.
