University of Central Arkansas Community Education Course Syllabus Introduction to Adobe Illustrator Wednesday Evenings 6:00 – 8:00, September 14 – October 19, 2011 Instructor Information: Jasmine Greer Email: jgreer@pulaskitech.edu Required Items: 1 flash drive for saving files (1 gigabyte or larger) Course Objectives and Course Content: The successful student will:

• Learn the fundamentals tools of Adobe Illustrator • Learn a brief history of design and typography • Use Adobe Illustrator to complete a finished digital illustration, logo, or design

Course Schedule: Week 1:

• Brief history of design and typography • The Elements of Art and Principles of Design • Learning the interface

Week 2:

• Raster vs. Vector • Basic shape manipulation • Pen Tool and Brushes • Stroke/Fill • Transparency and Color

Week 3:

• Creating swatches • Symbols • Type • Blending Shapes

Week 4:
