Apple IDWhat is an Apple ID?

What is an Apple ID?

An Apple ID is the personal account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, iTunes Store, iCloud, iMessage, the Apple Online Store, FaceTime and more. It includes the information you use to sign in, as well as all the contact, payment and security details that you will use across Apple services.

Apple ID

1. Parents and carers have their own Apple ID as the mainaccount

2. Students need their own individual Apple ID so that theseare controlled by the parent/carer account

3. iPad Apps, media content (such as Music, Movies, TVShows) and Games are accessed using student’s Apple ID

4. An Apple ID does not control how the student uses theinternet, such as web browsing, or watching YouTube. Thisis done using Parental Controls within Family Sharing

5. Educational Apps required for the iLearn BYO iPadprogram are downloaded using the student’s Apple IDfrom the App Store on their iPad

6. The login name used for signing into Apple ID is the sameas the email address used registered to the Apple ID

iPad Set Up Tips:

- Please add a passcode on your child’s iPad.

- Please add a photo of your child to the “Lock Screen” of your child’s iPad so it is easily

identified if they leave their iPad unattended:

Adding a photo to the lock screen:

1. Take a photo of your child using the Camera app.

2. Tap the “Settings” icon on your iPad’s Home screen to launch the

“Settings” app.

3. Tap “Wallpaper” and then tap, “Choose a new wallpaper”

4. Select “Camera Roll” and select the photo of your child.

5. Select “Select Set Lock Screen”

6. Close the “Settings” app.

Internet Connectivity and Security

1. Students participating in the iLearn BYO iPad program will be required to access internet resources whilst at school.

2. BYO iPads are only allowed to connect to the school’s wireless network when they are on school grounds.

3. Teachers will assist students in configuring their supported BYO devices connect to the school’s Wi-Fi network(s).

4. School content filtering prevents access to sites such as YouTube and unsafe sites.

5. iPads with cellular connectivity are prohibited from being used whilst on school premises. Devices with cellular connectivity are not monitored and cannot be provided with monitored and safe content filtered by the Department of Education. Thus they are not supported under any circumstances.

6. All students using the school’s networks will be subject to content filtering. Use of the network is subject to the Department’s Code of School Behaviour.
