STATIONS OF THE CROSS/VIA CRUCIS

For Catholics throughout the world, the Stations of the Cross are synonymous

with Lent. This devotion commemorates 14 key events on the day of Christ’s

crucifixion. The Stations originated in medieval Europe when wars prevented

Christian pilgrims from visiting the Holy Land.

During Lent, the Stations of the Cross allow us, too, to become pilgrims to the

places and moments of sacred memory. The Stations are observed on Fridays,

February 12 through March 19, at 6:30 p.m. in English and 7:30 in Spanish.

FISH FRY

The Men’s Club present their Annual Lenten Fish Fry in the IHM School Cafe-

teria from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on February 12, 26, and March 11. The cost is $10 for

adults and $5 for children under 12 years. You are welcome to dine-in with us

or take-out! Proceeds to benefit IHM and IHM School!

For more information, contact the Men’s Club at [email protected].

Last weekend the Archdiocese

celebrated the life and legacy of Dr.

Martin Luther King, Jr with a variety of

events. The theme this year was “So

We, Though Many, Are One Body in

Christ” (Romans 12:5). On Sunday,

there was a Youth Celebration at St.

Peter Claver Regional School. Fourth

grade student Mary Evelyn Montello

represented IHM School in the artwork

competition. Her poster won 3rd Place

in the MLK Poster competition, and the

2nd Place Chancery’s Choice Poster.

Mary Evelyn is shown at right with

Principal Jim Lee and her winning

poster. Congratulations Mary Evelyn.

Last week our Middle School students took part

in their annual Inter-Disciplinary Unit (IDU) - a

week long intensive study program. This year

the theme was Westward Ho! The students

dressed their part on Friday and traveled west

with their wagon trains.

First Communion Parent Meeting: February 16

Mark your calendars! A meeting for parents of First Communion candidates, including IHM School students, will take place at 7:00 on February 16, in the church. Congratulations to William Pike, who was accepted into the order of catechumens last Sunday. As a catechumen, he will undergo the rites of purification and enlightenment this Lent and be baptized at the Easter Vigil. We welcome William into our community and offer him our prayers and support as he continues his journey in the footsteps of Christ.

“The family which experiences the joy of faith communicates it naturally. That family is the salt of the earth and the light of the world.”

-Pope Francis During the Season of Lent, we will be forming a group to study Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive, the book prepared for the recent World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. We will meet the first five Sundays of Lent, beginning Febru-ary 14, from 10:15 to 11:15, in the library of IHM School. To reserve a spot and a copy of the book, please register at http://ihmatlanta.org/adult-faith-formation. You are welcome to register and participate even if you are not able to attend every week. No matter what stage of life you are in or what your experience of family has been, we invite you to come and delve deeper into the mystery of God’s love as expressed in familial relation-ships.

Catechist Formation: February 7, 10:00-11:30 Elementary school catechists, please plan to attend this event in the school cafeteria. Sean Williams from Loyola Press will be here to answer your questions and give you tips on how best to use our curriculum. It will also be a good chance to pause for prayer, food, and fellowship with your fellow catechists. Have you thought about being a catechist? Now is the time to answer the call! We are always eager to welcome new members to our teams for elementary education, youth group, or adult faith formation. No prior experience is necessary. Even if you are not comfortable teaching, you can provide valuable support and assistance in other ways. For more information, contact Drew Denton in the parish office at 404-636-1418, ext. 223 or by email at [email protected].

On January 22nd our nation will mark the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the U.S. Since that tragic decision, more than 56 million children's lives have been lost to abortion, and many suffer that loss -- often in silence. Join thousands of Catholics across the country in prayer for a Culture of Life from Saturday, January 16, 2016 - Sunday, January 24, 2016. Visit www.9daysforlife.com for 4 WAYS TO JOIN!

Join other high school teens for another XLT event! There is no cost to attend, and Chick-Fil-A dinner will be sold inside. You are welcome to bring guest— so mark your calendar for this fun night of praise and worship!

Please note: drop off and pick up is down in the XLT Studio (not the main church).
