For the first time ever, the International Federation of Exhibition and Event Services (IFES) World Summit will be held in Delhi, India. The 2014 summit will lay special focus on specific industry-related knowledge of the Indian market and implementing environmentally responsible practices. The conference will be held at the Le Meridien in New Delhi from 30th May to 1st June 2014 where members and participants will have the opportunity to interact with local and international key decision makers from the Exhibition Service Industry. The Exhibition and Trade Industry in India is expected to grow at CAGR 20-25% in the coming years. Exhibitions are an important tool in any industry for marketing, promotion and consumer interaction. Delhi, the national capital of India, is a gateway to the Indian market and offers a unique blend of business and culture. The city is among the most sought after destination for exhibitions for Indian as well as International corporations.

The focal point of the 2014 World Summit is to provide first-hand experience of the Indian Exhibition Industry. The goal is not only to understand the present but also the future aspects of the industry. New ideas and prospects can only be realized by mutual sharing of knowledge and technology; IFES 2014 will work collaboratively towards identifying and explaining the working of the dynamic Indian Market, its challenges and opportunities. The Summit aims to take forward the IFES Mission to increase opportunities for networking and collaboration between national product and services suppliers within the exposition industry on an international level. It will also work as a forum to increase awareness of the specific issues pertaining to exposition-marketing professionals among the IFES members. Keynote Speaker: Tom Bowman

A social entrepreneur from the get-go, Tom founded an exhibit design company that often focused on science museums and aquariums, like helping the National Academy of Sciences define the mission and vision for their new science museum.

A project for the Koshland Science Museum on climate change redirected Tom’s personal and career journey. He became Mr. Green for his industry’s largest trade publication. He won a prestigious statewide small business award in California for walking the talk, using his own company as a lab for cutting carbon emissions cost effectively. Most importantly, he began consulting with scientists, economists, government leaders, communications researchers and others on what he believes is our essential quest—to get the public engaged in responding to the climate challenge.

He’s learned a lot and earned a high degree of trust and respect from all these diverse experts along the way. And he learned one thing for sure: we need to integrate all these areas of expertise—particularly climate science, behavioral science, and communications—if we’re going to harness the public’s will to meet the enormous challenge that climate change presents.

But whiners and bomb throwers should be advised, social entrepreneurs are a “can do” breed. Tom’s motto: “Let’s Solve Climate Change.”

Social Entrepreneur: Anshu Gupta

Anshu Gupta; Popularly known as the Clothing Man, started his career as a freelance journalist and left a corporate career in 1998 to start GOONJ. Anshu’s mission in Goonj is to make clothing a matter of concern, to bring it in the list of subjects for the development sector. While introducing a new model wherein city’s discard is turned into a rural development resource, he adds a new perspective which looks at the giver’s dignity rather than the donor’s pride.. In the last 14 years GOONJ, the organisation he founded have been able to demonstrate, how a parallel trash based (as opposed to cash based) economy is possible. An Ashoka & Schwab Fellow, he and his organization Goonj, has won many international awards and the work brings a lot of conviction and evidence to show the success of the idea. GOONJ has emerged as the largest non -monetary resource agency while people also call it one of the largest civic participation movements!!

Speaker: Travis Stanton

Travis Stanton brings current exhibit design trends to IFES members when he presents “Global Trend Analysis,” featuring emerging themes identified at EuroShop, Mobile World Congress, the International Consumer Electronics Show, EXHIBITOR2014, and dozens of other recent international exhibitions and events. He is the editor of EXHIBITOR magazine, which boasts readers in more than 30 different countries and was recently named among the top 20 business publications in America. As editor, Travis travels the globe, attending dozens of tradeshows and events each year, ranging from the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. His work as a writer and editor has earned him numerous awards including the 2007 Young Leader Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors, and the 2011 Magazine of the Year award from the Minnesota Magazine and Publications Association.

At this year’s IFES World Summit, Travis will detail which trends are taking root on trade show floors around the globe, and how those trends are being implemented into exhibitors’ designs. "The presentation is all about inspiring exhibit and event professionals by showing them what can and is being done on an international stage,” he says. “As such, we’ll take a big-picture view of the industry, identify which new trends are gaining momentum, which existing trends still have staying power, and which emerging trends might impact our industry in the more distant future.”

A Science Graduate, with specialization in Education & German Language, responsible for Chamber’s very active role at Indian Trade shows in all regions, promoting “Trade Fairs” as an effective tool for marketing, while looking out on new possibilities and making a judicious selection in the changing market. Since the inception of this activity have handled the German Participation at more than 150 shows (Automotive, Electrical, Engineering, Chemicals &Pharmaceutical, Machine Tool, Analytical Instrumentation & Biotechnology, Aero, Defence &Aviation, Beauty , Home Care & Personal Care etc.). Claus is CEO and owner of Holtmann Messe & Event, Hannover, Germany - a full-service company with over 60 years of experience in the exhibition and event industry. From 2000 until 2009 Claus served as President of FAMAB, the German association for direct business communications, member of Board since 1996. Senator of Senat der Wirtschaft, the German section of The Global Economic Network, initiator of the highly respected international project “World Forrest Foundation”.

Event Emcee: Han Leenhouts

After more than 10 years working for a stand building and stand system production company Han has started his own training company. During the stand building years he serviced more than 1000 companies on their way to successful stand building. He also attended shows in Europe, the US and Asia. He took all this experience into Sales & Pepper. In the 8 years that Sales & Pepper exists, he has become a leading expert in the Netherlands on teaching stand behaviour and managing exhibitor from an organising standpoint. He is now a columnist for four websites and one magazine on exhibitions and has been on national television with a programme on exhibitions (6 episodes) He has also written a book “Peppertalk” on participating in exhibitions.

He also trains at various companies and has already trained over 10,000 people. Han as a trainer can be characterised with the following words: Authentic, Humor, Drive, Empathy, Direct.

Speaker: Robin Drake

Robin has a MS in Art Education from Pratt institute. He is on the advisory board for Graduate Interior Design at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and currently an advisor for The Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton New Jersey. Robin is a partner in Drake & Boucher Inc. in New York and has developed brand identities for Harry Cipriani, Aquascutum Inc, and Stow Davis Furniture. The firm also designed trade show exhibits for Esprit, the Steelcase Design Partnership, and the Container Store at the South Street Seaport Museum.

Robin also worked as exhibit design consultant for the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, and the gallery of the New York School of Interior Design. The firm also designed the 4,000 square foot Heller Gallery in New York’s meatpacking district. Numerous published works in New York Times, design section, two cover stories with Interiors Magazine, a feature section in the Loftstyle book by Suzanne Slesin. Robin was the subject of a television news interview by Roz Abrams about my design for an Edible Architecture competition.

Your day in Delhi will start with a visit to Rajghat - the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. This black marble platform is built where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. Apart from the Taj Mahal, Agra is home to some of the most beautiful works of architecture. Situated on the Western bank of river Yamuna, Agra has secured its place on the international map due to its architectonic wealth.You will board the coaches for Agra post lunch on 1st June, 2014. The distance between Agra and Delhi is nearly 200 kms and will take around 5 hours to cover. You will be staying at Hotel Amarvilas, which overlooks the beautiful Taj Mahal. On the afternoon of 2nd June, you will drive towards Jaipur from Agra, which will be nearly 240 kms. This is in extension to the “Matters of the Heart” tour. Your destination for the night will be a small village called Samode, which is at a distance of 50 kms from the main city of Jaipur.

Samode: Located north-west of Jaipur, Samode is the abode of the Rawals of Amber, founded in the 16th century. It is set amidst three imposing forts, high on the mountains and reminds one of the valour of the Rajputs. The palace where you will be staying has a remarkable hall of mirrors, with frescoes of the 18th century. It reflects the fine aesthetic traditions of its royal occupants. Evening will be free for you to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area and dinner will be served at the Palace. The next day will begin with a camel cart ride through the village followed by lunch at the Samode Bagh.

Jaipur: After lunch you will drive to Jaipur to see the City Palace and the Observatory. The city is famously known as the Pink city owing to the colour of the buildings in the old city. On the way to the City Palace, you will stop for a photo opportunity of the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) to capture the unique architecture of the building.

Dera Amer: n the evening, take a short drive to Dera Amer for an elephant safari. Dera Amer was the meeting ground for Rajput kings going on hunting trips. At the venue you will be welcomed by elephants. Dinner will follow the safari. will follow the safari.

The massive 15th century Mehrangarh Fort sits atop a rocky hill, soaring 125m above the plains. A 10 km long wall encompasses the city with 8 gates and innumerable bastions. Shopping in Jodhpur’s bazaars is a heady experience with a colourful display of the rich collection of exquisite handicrafts and textiles.

Forts, Palaces & Royalty...Day 01: Delhi–Jodhpur

Depart for Jodhpur on flight AI 475 at 1100 hrs. Arrive at 1200 hrs and you will be received and escorted to Ajit Bhawan hotel. Explore the local bazaars in the evening.

Day 02: Jodhpur–Ranakpur

Visit Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada. The fort is an impressive and formidable structure with magnificent palaces and a good collection of miniature paintings and other artifacts. The Jaswant Thada is a 19th century royal cenotaph and is a fine example of the architectural brilliance of the time. After the visits, you will drive to Ranakpur and check into Hotel Fatehbad.

Day 03: Ranakpur–Udaipur

Visit the Jain temples and drive to Udaipur, the Lake Palace. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake in the evening.

Leh is the capital of Ladakh (11917 ft). Sheltered in the North by the Ladakh range and in the South by the Zanskar mountains, Leh gets very little rainfall. The most attractive feature of the landscape of Ladakh is the Buddhist gompas (monasteries). Situated on the highest point of the mountain spurs or majestically sprawling over cliffside, located in the vicinity of vil lages , these aesthetically pleasing, architecturally interesting gompas provide the focus for the faith of the highly religious Buddhist people.

Monks,Monasteries & Mountains...Day 01: Delhi–Leh

Depart for Leh by flight G8193 at 08.40 hrs. On arrival in Leh, you will be met and transferred to the hotel, Grand Dragon. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, acclamatising to the high altitude and low oxygen levels.

Day 02: Leh–Khardung La– Sumur (Nubra Valley) Drive to Nubra valley through the highest motor-able road in the world, the Khardung La pass. A full circle of peaks surrounds the flat sea of the central plain dotted with villages. Here lies a valley cut off from the world a hidden secret land of Nubra. Mountains rise on both sides abruptly from the valley in great masses, forming walls of solid rock broken only by narrow side gorges that strike directly into the heart of the range, dividing the facing wall into enormous sections. On arrival in Sumur, check-in at the Silk Route camp. In the afternoon you will visit the 150 year old Samstaling monastery situated on the mountain side just above Sumur.

Day 03: Sumur–Diskit–Hunder- Sumur Drive to Diskit to visit the famous Diskit Monastery. Diskit has a regular bazaar consisting of a single line of shops, and a gompa. This is situated on a rocky spur above the village with

commanding views up and down the valley. Thereafter you will drive to Hunder to experience sand dunes of Nubra valley.Day 04: Sumur-Leh

Drive back to Leh from Sumur and check in at Hotel Grand Dragon. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 05: Leh – Pangong Lake

Drive to Pangong Lake over the Chang La pass . You will arrive at Pangong in the afternoon and will be visiting the beautiful Pangong Tso lake. Tso Thiksey Gompa is a Yellow Hat (Gelugpa) in the local language means ‘Lake’ and this is why the place is called Pangong Tso. The lake is very beautiful and is partly in India and partly in Tibet. This lake, as most lakes in Ladakh is a salt water lake. After the visit you will be checking in at a tented camp for the night.

Day 06: Pangong Lake–Thaktok-Leh

You will be leaving for Leh and en- route visit the Thaktok monastery and Stok Palace. On arrival in Leh you will check in at Grand Dragon Hotel.

Day 07: In Leh

Go on a local sight seeing tour today visiting Leh Palace, Thiksey and Hemis Monastery and Shanti stupa. Hemis is the best known and biggest gompa of Ladakh. It is situated on the banks of the Indus. The monastery, which houses five hundred monks, has beautiful paintings and thankhas.

Buddhist monastery in the Indus Valley, 25 km east of Leh. Noted for its resemblance to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, the main point of interest is the Maitreya, Future Buddha. It is also noted for its collection of thangkas and other Buddhist wall paintings.

Day 08: Leh-Delhi

You will be leaving for Delhi from Leh by flight G8 194 at 1020 hrs and will arrive in Delhi at 1140 hrs.

Sun, Sand & Sea...Day 01: Delhi-Goa

Depart Delhi via flight 6E 335 at 1445 hrs, arriving in Goa at 1715 hrs. Transfer to Taj Holiday Village.

Day 2: In Goa

Start the day with a sightseeing tour of Goa on motorcycles or scooters. Drive to Dona Paula, an idyllic spot which overlooks Goa’s magnificent harbour of Mormugao and proceed to Panjim via Miramar Beach.This is followed by a walking tour of Asia’s only Latin quarter, Fontainhas. Our tour then proceeds to Old Goa to visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, where the incorruptible remains of St. Francis Xavier, are kept in a silver casket entombed in a Florentine style marble mausoleum.
