"My SOUL is athirst for God." That is true every day. Too
often men neglect to still that thirst. They ignore the fountain
of living water, and so neglect their soul.
How significant are the words of St. Jerome, "So take care
of thy daily life and work that thou mayest bestow some time
and leisure upon thine own soul. Choose for thyself some fit
place unto which as unto a haven thou mayest betake thyself
out of the great storm ·and tempest of thy cares, and there
appease and assuage, in tranquil solitude, the waves and
billows raised by outward trouble.
"Let there be study of the Divine Word, mingled with
prayer and solid meditation on eternal things, that by this
leisure. thou mayest balance all the businesses of the other
time. But we say not this to withdraw thee from thy daily
life, but that thou oughtest to show thyself in thy daily life." rro f3od, Our Help in .Ages 10ast"
