Components of IEP Meetings:LRE- Least Restrictive Environment-This means that your child should be included in a general education class to theMAXIUM EXTENT POSSIBLE. While this might not mean 100% inclusion, it means thatyour child wil l be with his or her peers as much as possible, while at the same timebeing able to learn.Students present levels of academic achievement and functional performance- Thisshould be a description of activit ies that your child can currently do. It should includeactivit ies they do in their classroom and where your student is in comparison with his orher peers. This section mentions skil ls that are relevant to how your student is affectedby his or her disabil ity (which can range from academic skil ls to gross and fine motorskil ls). The outlook of this section should be pos i t i ve . Any needs your child has shouldbe viewed, not as deficits, but as entit lement for services.

Measurement of Annual goals, including academic and functional goals- In this section, the IEP team will discuss goals they create especially for your child. These goals arewritten with the intention of being completed over one school year. These goals can beacademic (math, reading, social studies, study skil ls etc) in nature, OR functional(independent l iving skil ls, self care skil ls). These goals wil l be formed based on yourchilds individual needs, and they wil l become your childs curriculum.** Good Faith- If the childs instructors follow the IEP when conducting instructionrelative to an IEP goal, but the goal is not met within the year, the parents may notpursue legal action.
