I teach in a classroom setting with numbers ranging between 4-13 at 6 high schools in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.

Basic Skills Teacher at Wapahani High School.

I have students from 9th-12th grades once per day.

Students worked weekly 1st semester on their Google Slide shows. We added slides and talked about why these areas are in their IEP’s and discussed at their conferences

Our ACR’s are in the spring.

Sarah GarnettI work with 7th & 8th grade students in a life skills classroom.

Many of my students spend part of their day in general education classes with support.

What we do: We have students create Google Slide presentations to present at their ACRs.

Students attend at least the beginning of the meeting to share their presentations.

During the conference team members are encouraged to add to the slides as needed.

After the meeting the Slides are saved and uploaded to the students IIEP accounts.

How we do it:1. Students complete paper copies of slides. Some will do this independently,

others will dictate responses verbally or choose pictures. Our Occupational and Speech Therapists assist students throughout this project too.

2. Students will share with peers, work on peer editing and revising. They conference with an adult when they’re done with the rough draft.

3. They move on to the computer template. 4. Students give a practice presentation to the class or individual adult before

their case conference.

Why we do it:We want students engaged with their IEPs and future planning. The information they share helps us set educational goals that can support their future plans.

Middle school is the first transition IEP for most students. The thought of planning for their child’s life after school can be overwhelming for parents, this helps ease some of the stress surrounding that.

Things to Consider

1. Remembering to upload the document after the case conference

2. Reminding students and parents that the goals and future plans they set

now can and will change.

3. The document the student has drafted is a work in process, it can be

added to by CCC members.

4. This isn’t just a series of slides to complete this is an EXCITING activity

where students get to think about their future!
