During this three-and-a-half day show, the Interior Design Show shapes the industry for the year to come —in North America and beyond. The 18th edition of Canada’s design fair celebrates leading brands, innovative speakers and rising local talents. Look for spotlights on Canadian-made products and small-batch designers, as well as international speakers including Lee Broom; Ora-ïto, presented by Scavolini; and International Guest of Honour Tom Dixon, presented by Caesarstone Canada and Klaus by Nienkämper. Ora-ïtoPresented by
1 IDCEC hour
Born in 1977, this iconoclastic artist became globally recognized in the late ’90s by presenting 3D images of products of international brands such as Vuitton, Apple, Nike and Bic. Due to enormous press coverage, fiction turned into reality as consumers tried to purchase these imaginary products. In 2002, Ora-ïto received a design award for his aluminum Heineken bottle with original capsule packaging. His first lamp, One Line, which he drew for Artemide with a single continuous line, was celebrated by his peers during the Milan Furniture Fair in 2004 and was crowned with a Red Dot Design Award. In 2013, he launched his own eponymous brand, a collection of headphones, speakers, and folio cases for smartphones and tablets. He was presented with six Red Dot Design awards and three IF Design awards in 2014—including for his own brand of connected objects and his Roche Bobois table, as well as awards for the Aubecq kitchen collection and the entrance hall design of Paris’ emblematic La Madeleine building.

Jesse Carrier & Mara MillerCarrier & Company Interiors In conversation with Odessa Paloma Parker
Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, the principals of Carrier and Company Interiors, are a husband-and-wife duo who create rooms that are a confident mix of timeless and contemporary design—both familiar and fresh at once. The Carriers’ work ranges in style from elegantly traditional to luxuriously minimalist to glamorously bohemian. Their rooms often feature subtle patterns and neutral palettes punctuated by bursts of exuberance and unexpected mixes of high and low, old and new.
Saturday
Orlando Soria In conversation with Maryam Siddiqi
Orlando Soria literally grew up under a waterfall in Yosemite National Park. Not raised by wolves, he ran off to the East Coast, where he worked as a production designer for short films, music videos, and indie features. His major breakthrough came when he was cast for HGTV’s “Secrets from a Stylist,” where he got his start in interior design. Since then, he’s worked with clients such as Kelly Oxford and collaborated with the only celebrity he really cares about, Anjelica Huston. Coming on as Homepolish’s West Coast Creative Director, he now lends his Martha Stewart meets Louie CK humor to the Homepolish Magazine and designs for some of the company’s best Pacific clients. He’s based out of a Los Angeles home he calls “Orcondo.”
