Improvement Idea Board
What is it?
An idea board is a simple, transparent system for handling improvement ideas in an area and it also promotes employee engagement.
Improvement Idea Board Example
Ideas - Ground Rules
• Within the decision making authority of the area
• Able to be accomplished within the area itself
• Fall under the philosophy of “low cost and creative” solutions
• Come from the people working in the area
Idea Board Process1. Blank idea card is
obtained from area idea board
2. Idea card is filled-out and placed into “submitted idea” pocket
3. Submitted ideas should be discussed openly during a group huddle using the PICK chart
4. Action is assigned as appropriate
5. Card is placed into “Work in Progress” until finished
6. Card is completed & moved to “Ideas Collected” section
7. Data is collected weekly, posted on board and logged into leader’s notebook tally sheet: – # Ideas submitted– # Ideas implemented
8. Monthly data is collected and rolled-up the management chain to the CEO level to provide organization-wide visibility
