1 Introduction to Nokia UltraSite EDGEBase Station Indoor Cabinet(IDCA/IDCB)

Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS supports both omni-directional and sectorisedconfigurations for traditional voice and future data applications. The BTS can beused in GSM/EDGE 800, 900, 1800 or 1900 MHz systems. With the addition of EDGE/EGPRS, the BTS offers a maximum data rate of more than 470 kbit/s withmultiple timeslots, as compared to more than 100 kbit/s with multiple timeslotsfor GSM/GPRS.

Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS is available in different cabinets for outdoor andindoor applications, including the:

• Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS Indoor (IDCA) - 12 TRX Capacity

• Nokia UltraSite EDGE Triple Mode BTS Indoor (IDCB) - 6 TRX +WCDMA Upgrade

1.1 Upgrade features

The following is a list of changes visible on the new indoor cabinet(IDCA/IDCB):

• The sidewalls are flat (bend was removed).

• Door locking plate now comes standard with the IDCA/IDCB.

• When viewed from above with the roof installed, input power terminalsand other roof components are visible as they are not totally covered. Also, the roof is now made of two side panels, and a plastic front mask instead of a solid sheet metal piece.

• Bottom part is a deep drawn, single steel piece versus a multi-piece,aluminium bottom.

• The door and feet are now pre-installed.

• All environmental gaskets (PSU, Common BP cover, etc.) were removedfrom IDCA/IDCB.

• One ATCA kit (six cables) is pre-installed on the back row of the

IDCA/IDCB antenna box.• The bulkhead connectors on the ATCA cables are now mounted using a

large nut with a “D” shaped connector instead of four M3 screws.

• The EMC nets for transmission cable(s) were shortened and reduced fromtwo to one.

• Battery vent tube was removed from the top of the cabinet since IBBU isnot supported

• -48 VDC filter has bolt style terminals instead of screw type.

• Door Grounding Cable is now round instead of flat

• The IBBU and Triple Mode Power cables (J1) were removed from thestandard busbar. Adapter cables are available through Hardware Servicesto provide the power connection for Triple Mode system. The IDCBcabinet comes standard with the adapter cables.
