ICEBERGWHITE ELEGANT ROUTER

The focus of the ICEBERG is creating a wireless router which is elegant enough to be considered as a artwork at home. This router will be a top of the line product from the manufacturer and will be released onto the market late 2012.

Page 5: ID-worksample- 8projects

What about your router? As a demand for a home networking rises, a router has become an essential product that people have to deal with everyday. A router usually is ‘hidden’, where people can’t see like on a floor or behind a bookshelf due to its bulky shape. I challenge the notion that a router needs to be hidden, and propose to bring it out to where people can check its status and manage it quickly and easily.

Page 6: ID-worksample- 8projects
Page 7: ID-worksample- 8projects

I was inspired by many artworks. Finding a balance between curves and lines to create new and appealing router was a big, yet meaningful challenge.

Inspiration

This router has a very simple and elegant form factor with top of the line features. It is almost comparable to an art pieces, which its owner can appreciate the aesthetics and can proudly place it where anyone can see.

After design direction was set, I worked on overall shape,

proportion, lines and detail design.

of white color and form factor was based on its target

customers – mostly for home and personal use. It has

1. A significant number of births occur outside the big hospitals Many parents and infants are also lost to follow-up, and persuading them to attend a centre specifically for the purposes of hearign screening may be difficult.

2. The lack of facilities and personnel In developing countries, many birthing facilities do not have the luxury of utilizing audiology personnel and instead use trained volunteers, patient care assistants, or clerical staff in the units.

3. The prevailing superstitious beliefs The prevailing superstitious beliefs related to childhood disabilities and the extent to which these factors can be minimised through pre-screening parental education and counselling would be helpful.

1.Community-based test + Trained volunteers and patient care assistants There are the lack of facilities and personnel. While mother need to take care of her baby, volunteers need to learn and conduct test easily and fast with the device. 2. Easy + Simple In order to meet the condition which is for community-based test and for volunteers, the device should be easy to use and have minimal components. Also, frindly and iconic formcould be good for volunteers and mothers to feel devices morecomfortable. 3. Solar-powered Traditional hearing aids and devices needtheir batteries replaced weekly. To cut down on the price andwaste, running on rechargeable batteries would be alternative. Also, It can be good option for people in developing nations without access to batteries or electricity.

WHAT MATTERS. WHAT IF,

Most hearing diagnostic devices are used by audiology personnel in the developed nations.

EG screen is FOR VOLUNTEERS AND FAMILY.

This illumination object is about reinterpretation of our time reading. No “Tick Tack Tick Tack”. No hour hand. No minute hand. There is noting but a light that shows you everything about time. “Follow the light” allows you feel the time and enjoy your time with different way.

There is noting but a light that shows you about time.

Time has both an important and a symbolic meaning for us. A clock is a necessary item that can directly tell us the accurate time or indirectly express approximate time. In Follow the time, a new concept of time was adopted. Light moves with time. The hour and minute can be discerned through a symbolically intuitive method according to the movement of light. Follow the time is a tool indicating time while simultane-ously erving as an interior object by which a particular time reveals a particular space.

OiO is a bedside table with an iPod integration system and an illumination. After a whole day of working online all day, cozying up with a book and music eases us into the comfortable and relaxed state for sleep. Everyday items such as cup can be left on its table top which has a built-in speaker system so that you can enjoy soothing music when you go to bed.

Umbrella+

On rainy days, many people use umbrellas to keep dry and avoid arriving at their destination getting wet. If umbrella users are inconsiderate of other pedestrian and passengers, they can frustrate and anger other people. Typical umbrellas drip on other people's floors and clothes. Also, people tend to forget to bring their umbrella case with them or carry a plastic bag for this purpose.

UMBRELLA CASE, IT’S ALWAYS THEREWHEN YOU NEED IT.

Page 37: ID-worksample- 8projects

Have your clothes ever gotten wet because the wet umbrella?

3. Umbrella drip on others, poking their eyes out, or sparring with their umbrellas.

2. Waterlogged umbrella without proper case makes slippery floor where someone might slip.

1. There are messy with used plastic bags and drips from umbrella.

Page 38: ID-worksample- 8projects

Umbrella+ helps people in a convenient

way to be considerate of places and others.

It is slim, easy to carry, and comes in various

colors. With it's built in cover; users don't

have to worry about their clothes or the

floor getting wet.

A waterproof case is integrated into the handle

of this umbrella to prevent your clothes from

getting wet. By pushing the bottom part of the

handle upward after folding the umbrella, this

cover encloses the wet umbrella.

Page 39: ID-worksample- 8projects

When the bottom part of the handleis pushed up, it covers the whole umbrella. The translucent material is used to show the inside of the umbrella; this connects it visually to the umbrella.

Fold the umbrella then slide the cover up; this will enclose the whole wet umbrella. This eliminates the possibility of clothes getting wet or raindrops dripping on the floor.

It’s built in cover, Simply stretch it out.

INDOOR MOOD LAMP

Wave is an indoor lighting solution which is in the shape of a compressed globe. Composed of irregular waves, it is made from soft thin plastic so that light can flow out between the gaps in the waves.

Wave

Page 41: ID-worksample- 8projects

Wave is not a lighting that reacts only to the flip ofa switch. You can enjoy the illumination differently with these light waves.

Page 42: ID-worksample- 8projects

Before final design direction and concept,

different kinds of form and function are proposed.

Page 43: ID-worksample- 8projects

Wave can be suspended from the ceiling with a variation of length or placed on the floor. Wave can be located and arranged in various position depending on the time and environment maximizing it'sfunction and beauty.

Bow-tieEnjoy special moments straight fromthe TV

Bow-tie is a new device that you can share your photos with others, take a pictures of your family and make video calling to your living room. Instantly connect with the people you care about no matter how far away they might be.

Page 45: ID-worksample- 8projects

Family as OneBow-tie offers features such as photo sharing, taking pictures

and making video calling. A-bow-tie is a stand-alone device with

no computer required, this small device is the simplest way to

make a video call and share photos. Just connect a-bow-tie to

the HDTV and connect a network cable.

Page 46: ID-worksample- 8projects

ETHERNET

HMDI MICRO USB

When bow-tie sits on top of the TV, the HMDI port, Ethernet and micro USB cables will be connected to the device. All the cables were required to be hidden for a cleaner look and better user experience. Many design alternatives were tested to come up with various ways to manage the cables with PCB board inside.

How to manage all these cables?

Page 47: ID-worksample- 8projects

I worked on different concepts considering the overall

form and location of cables, camera, SD card unit and

USB port. As the device will be placed on top of the TV,

Attaching it to the top surface of TV was considered

as well.

Page 48: ID-worksample- 8projects

Like a bow tieThe design was inspired by a bow tie. I imagined not only the form of bow tie, but the whole experience of a man wearing a bow tie with the suit. When choosing a bow tie, you will consider not only the bow tie itself but also the others such as the color, size, design of suit. When I started designing this project, I was considering its impact on the surroundings and a harmony within the context.
