**Information for graduates commencing a 36 month ACA Training Contract**How do I register with the ICAEW? - Follow the guidance below

When should I register? - Please register no later than 4 week prior to your start date

1. Enter www.icaew.com in your internet browser2. Select the Qualification and programmes from the tool bar.3. Select ACA qualification and click the expand link

4. Select ACA student resources followed by the Student Registration link5. On the Student Registration page select register6. Follow the instruction by entering your personal details, name, address etc

7. Select Contract ACA and complete the qualification details8. Enter your Training Office number (click here for training codes)9. Enter the Start Date of Contract/Agreement (this is the start date on your Deloitte

employment contract

10. You must enter the Training Contract Duration as 36 months11. Ensure you complete all the mandatory fields

12. You will be given a summary page to confirm. 13. Once all information is correct select Submit14. You will be sent an email with your student ID number – Take note of your ID

number as you will use it to book your exams – further guidance will be given on this

**Information for graduates who already have an ICAEW IDcommencing a 36 month ACA Training Contract**

How do I register as a Deloitte student if I already have an ICAEW number and/or I am part way through my studies under a different firm or independently?

1. You will need to complete a re-registration form – downloaded this from the ICAEWwebsite or Click here

2. Complete page 1 – student information

3. Complete the details of the office you will be joining (click here for training codes)4. Enter the number of previously completed practical work experience days (if applicable)7. Enter the Start Date of Contract/Agreement (this is the start date on your Deloitte

employment contract)

6. Enter the number of months the training contract is due to run, this should be a total of 36 months minus the number of months already completed. e.g. if you have already completed five months with a previous firm the figure in the expected to run box should be 31 months.

New graduates on a 36 month ICAEW Training contract, Returning Scholars & Returning Industrial Placement students

Who does this apply to?

If you previously carried out an industrial placement or scholarship at a UK Deloitte office

What do you mean by returning scholar or placement student?

It is practical work experience of a financial, business or commercial nature carried out during previous employment, a scholar or industrial placement with an ICAEW accredited firm. The ICAEW allows students to apply for prior work experience, which, if granted, reduces the length of your (36 month) training contract.

What is credit for prior work experience?

How do I know if I have prior work experience?

If you were on a placement you should have recorded your placement time on an Evidence of Practical Work Experience form and had the form signed off at the end of your placement. This form must be signed by the QPRT/PRT (Qualified/Person responsible for Training) from the office you gained the work experience

What information do I need if my previous work experience is saved on my online training file?

You will need to ensure your previous employer has signed off your training records up to your leave date with them. Your work experience will then be saved and will transfer across when you re-register as a Deloitte student.

Yes. The ICAEW requires students to have completed a minimum of 65 days practical work experience in order to apply. They will credit up to a maximum of 12 months.

Is there a minimum amount of time that can be credited?

Yes. However the period of time you are applying for must be no longer than two years prior to your Deloitte start date. Any work experience outside this time will not be accepted. You will need to follow the steps above and ensure your prior work experience forms are signed by the firm you gained your work experience in.

I completed my work experience at a different firm, can I still apply?

Yes. As a returning scholar or industrial placement student you should collate all necessary documents, scan and email them to the ICAEW for processing [email protected]

I carried out my placement at Deloitte but over 2 years ago, can I still apply for credit for prior work experience?

Once you have registered as a Deloitte ACA student you can apply for credit for prior work experience

I am joining from another firm and my work experience form has been signed off, do I need to take further action?

No. If you have been using the online training file. Once you complete the re-registration form. Your experience will transfer over.

Q1. Who can apply for exemptions? Graduates commencing under an ICAEW 36 month Training Contract

Q2. Which subjects can I get exemptions from?

Business & Finance, Management Information, Law, Financial Management, Business Strategy

Q3. Can I apply for exemptions from other subjects?

No. As a Deloitte student you cannot apply for exemptions in any other subject (including Accounting, Assurance and Taxation) as these form a fundamental part of the ACA qualification

Q4. Are there any exceptions to this?

The only exception to the above rule is if you already hold a Professional Accountancy qualification, for example ACCA, CIMA, in which case you may be eligible to apply for additional exemptions. A relevant degree, however, is NOT sufficient to be able to claim for the extra exemptions

Q5. Where can I find information to see if my degree is applicable to the subject Deloitte allow?

You can check the ICAEW online Credit for Prior Learning Directory to see which exemptions you can apply for. This lists degrees for which the credit arrangements have already been agreed and shows the modules which you need to have passed and the marks needed.

Q.6 My degree is listed can I apply for all the exemptions listed?

If your degree is listed you can apply for the exemptions in line with the 5 Deloitte allow.

Q.7 My degree is not listed can I apply for any exemptions?

If your degree is not listed you can still apply for exemptions. You will need to compare your degree with the ICAEW expectations for credit, then decide which papers you wish to apply for. You will need to send further information such as your syllabuses and exam papers for the university modules for which the claim is based. The ICAEW will then assess if you can be granted the exemption

Q.8 Is there an application cost? Yes. Each subject costs:- £70 certificate paper and - £90 professional paper When applying prior to your start date you should complete a paper based application form which will enable the ICAEW to invoice the firm directly.Alternatively you can apply online and pay. You can then reclaim the cost via SAP –once you start with the firm.

Q.9 Can I apply more than once for a subject?

No. You can only apply once. Please ensure you follow the application guidance and submit all necessary paper work requested.

Q.10 How will I know if I have been granted an exemption?

The ICAEW will email you and update your student profile – this should state the subject and whether you have been awarded.You will also receive written confirmation of your exemptions – this will go to the address you register with the ICAEW

Q.11 Do I need to notify Deloitte that I have been granted an exemption?

No. The ICAEW send a report to Deloitte which will confirm your exemption

Q.12 Can I still attend college if granted an exemption?

No. As you have applied and been granted an exemption by the ICAEW you are deemed to have sufficient knowledge to omit the subjects

Q.13 What support is available to me if granted an exemption?

We work with our training providers to offer short booster sessions for FinancialManagement if you are granted an exemption. You are also able to contact a subject tutor if you have a query.In addition if you have completed the subject as part of previous studies you can refer to previous texts and notes.

Q.14 When should I apply for exemptions?

You can apply for exemption once you have registered as a student. In order for the firm to pay for your application you must complete a paper based form (see enclosed document how to apply for credit prior learning exemption and LPDDIG14586-1 CPL App guidance document)

Please apply and send your applications off in good time as the Institute can take several weeks to respond.

Q.15 Can I apply for exemptions once I start the subject at college?

No. You must apply for exemption prior to your start date with Deloitte, once you have registered as a student. If you start tuition for the subject you will be expected to sit the examination.

Access arrangements

ICAEW Essentials

It is your responsibility to inform the professional education team as soon as possible of any circumstances which may entitle you to adjustments so that an application can be made to the ICAEW at the beginning of your training.

1. What are Access arrangements?In certain circumstances, you may be eligible to apply to the ICAEW for adjustment to the exams or exam procedure (for example, an extra 15 minutes for e-assessments or written examinations or rest breaks during exams).

2. Who is eligible to apply?All Graduates who will be sitting ICAEW (ACA &CFAB) examinations are eligible to apply.Scholar & Industrial placement students should contact the professional education team to discuss what adjustments, (if required) can be made for internal assessments.

3. How long is the application process?You will receive a response from the ICAEW within 10 working days. We advise you to apply before your start dateApplications must be received prior to the ICAEW exam entry deadlines:• Application for access arrangements for written papers must be with the ICAEW no later than 1 week after

the exam entry deadline• Applications for access arrangements for computer assessments must be with the ICAEW no later than 30

days before the exam entry deadline Note: As you will start college 1 week after your induction and examination soon after, it is vital that you apply for these adjustments early and contact us, if you require assistance with your applications.

It is vital that once you have confirmation of your adjustments from the ICAEW , you notify the college sending them a copy of your confirmation no later than 48 hours before an exam or mock is to take place – to ensure their system are adjusted.

4. How will I know my access arrangement has been approved?The ICAEW will email a confirmation letter to you confirming what arrangement they agree can be put in place.

You will need to:• Send a copy of the confirmation letter to the Professional Education Team

• Take a copy of the confirmation letter to college on your first day so that the college admin team can also make a record to put adjustment in place for your studies

5. How do I confirm to Deloitte that I am applying for adjustments?If you are sending your application directly to the ICAEW please cc in the Professional Education team so that a record can be made of your application. If you require any assistance or wish to discuss please call the Professional Education Team on + 44 (0) 207 007777Once the ICAEW have received your application they will review and respond within 10 days. The ICAEW will confirm the arrangements and how long they will be in place for.

You can write a cover letter (include your ICAEW student ID number) and submit supporting evidence. The letter should:• give details on your circumstance and the impact it has on

you.• must be supported by up to date medical evidence, for

example an up to date psychologist report for dyslexia.The ICAEW require a recent adult report for those applying for adjustments. The report must: • clearly state the exact adjustments required• clearly specify the amount of additional time recommended

or any special arrangements which need to be in place.• For permanent conditions/circumstances (for example

dyslexia), the ICAEW require a GP or Consultants report, which must be and up to date report.

You can apply directly to the ICAEW or via Deloitte if you are a graduate or bright start completing the ACA or CFAB. You can:Request that a medical practitioner completes an ICAEW application form and then submit this to the ICAEW.
