IABSE UK Technical Tour 2013 Tyne, Wear and Tees visit (12-13/10/13):

 We are looking forward to a technical visit of the Tyne and Tees area. IABSE UK group looks forward to seeing you there. The trip is on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October 2013. Details of the visit are as follows:

Saturday Tees Transporter Bridge, Newport vertical lift bridge, Infinity Footbridge, Kingsgate Footbridge, Durham Cathedral..

Sunday Cragside iron footbridge, Ouseburn Bridge, Byker Viaduct, Millennium Bridge, Tyne Swing bridge…

The cost is: Under 30s £70 Others £100

This includes coach travel, lunch on the first day, tour of the transporter bridge and entry fee to NT Cragside property. Lunch/snack can be taken on the second day at Cragside. It is intended to see the Gateshead Millennium bridge being opened.

Meeting point will be along Quayside near Millennium Bridge. As we need to meet at 9am on the Saturday, we recommend you come and stay overnight on the Friday.

Getting there: By car: from south A1(M)/A194(M) followed by A184,

from west M6 thenA689 /A69 followed by A186 and from north east (Edinburgh) A1 followed by A167

By train: Newcastle Central Station By air: Regular flights from London, Birmingham, Edinburgh.

Upon arrival, taxi service is available or the metro trains can be taken into the town centre. They run typically every ten minutes reducing to one an hour after 5pm.
