A Spiritual Reflection

Proverbs 29 v 15 - A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined

disgraces his mother.

Proverbs 29 v 17 - Discipline your children and they will give you peace , they will

bring you the delights of your desire.

Many of the problems in the world today is the result of us not heeding these words.

In many cases parents have forsaken the awesome calling and responsibility to parent

correctly.

We fill our lives with materialism and we give them more authority and respon-

sibility than they can handle. We allow them to dictate to us how things should be

done. Because we are so busy with our own things and sometimes just couldn't be

bothered, we give in and give over regardless of the consequences.

We put our children in a Christian environment, thinking that someone else might

teach them Godly principles. We say one thing and do another!

We don’t even realize what’s going on in our children’s lives. The pain they bear in

their hearts! What are you planting in your child’s life? What legacy are you leaving

behind?

The greatest gifts you can give your child is your love

and time. Get to know your child, build that relation-

ship - realize what a privilege it is to shape his/her life.

Children need our attention, guidance, protection and

care.

Discipline in love and let your actions tie up with your

words. It is your responsibility to raise them up in the

ways of the Lord!

Love

Lynette Farquhar

ZOË CLINIC

Whenever I watch programs on TV concerning our bodies, health and

solutions to health problems, I become overwhelmed at how fearfully

and wonderfully we have been made. We are truly complex in our

make up.

It can also become confusing when we listen to all the different advice

on how to remain healthy but there are a few simple keys to obtaining

and managing healthy bodies:-

Eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day.

Limit your intake of “junk” food, fats and sugars. Watch out for

colourants, additives and preservatives.

Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.

Cut out fizzy drinks.

Exercise for 30 minutes at least

3 times per week.

Get enough rest.

Make time for God everyday.

Start by following these simple rules and you will experience better

health and vitality.

COMMUNITY CUPBOARD

The collection of non-perishable food items and

toiletries is an on-going project. Learners are

encouraged to bring items once a month on the

first Friday of every month instead of every week.

STAFF MOVEMENT

Mr. Gordon resigned at the end of June 2014. Mrs. Leigh Rowbotham is now the Estate Manager. Mrs Kathleen Kelly has been employed in our financial department.

We wish Mr. Gordon God’s richest blessings in his new employment.

WORK PARTY

On Saturday 6th September we held a morning work party at Hebron. There was

much work to be done. Tables were fixed, the lawn was mowed, tree’s were

pruned, chairs were scrubbed and windows were washed. We intend to have a

work party once a month and would appreciate any support offered.

A PRAYER FOR OUR CHILDREN

Father God, Creator of all things, thank You for the gift of my children.

Please dispatch angels to watch over them and protect them in all their ways.

Send Christian friends into their lives to help them to be a godly influence.

Lord, what an awesome privilege and responsibility to be a parent!

Give me the wisdom and discernment I need to know when my children need

prayer or when I need to be an understanding friend to them.

Father, may my children fulfill Your plan and purpose for their lives.

May “the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, knowledge and the

fear of the Lord” be upon them. I place my children in Your hands.

Thank you that You love them more than I do and that Your plans

for them are plans for welfare and peace, not for evil and that You

will give them hope and a future

FROM THE MOUTH OF BABES

The guinea fowls love admiring themselves in our reflective glass sliding

doors. While watching the guinea fowls in utter amazement, a grade 2

learner proudly announced, “look Ma’am Gonda, the pigeon ducks are

looking in the mirror!”

A grade 4 learner was asked to be quiet and stop talking and replied,

“I’m not talking sir, the words are just coming out of my mouth!”

The grade 2 class made and painted paper maché bowls during an art

period. They had to explain what they would use their bowls for. One

learner responded, “I want to use it for a “money hat”. I will dance for

you and maybe you will give me money.”

THANK YOU

We wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all concerned for your generous

contributions in support of our school fundraisers and events.

Thank you for helping to make these events such a success. Your support does

make the difference in our community.

about and running over, will be poured out into your lap”. (Luke 6:38)

EISTEDDFOD

The junior choir participated in the Tygerberg Eisteddfod on the 13th May 2014 and did very well. The overall results were 80.7%.

A Grade 8 learner – Malaika Makapela achieved 93% at the Eisteddfod for a Solo performance.

Well done to Mrs. Merle May and all the learners who participated. What a truly outstanding achievement!

LADIES TEA

One of our highlights was the Ladies Tea which was held on Saturday 21st June

2014. The theme was “Celebrate Jesus”. The afternoon was spent in a time of

praise, worship and fellowship. Various ladies shared their favourite scripture or

gave a testimony. The afternoon was a time of refreshing and every lady left feel-

ing uplifted.

A note of thanks to the following ladies for donations and assistance with the tea.

ENTREPRENEURS DAY

The grade 7 class held an entrepreneur's day on Friday 29th August. The

project formed part of their E.M.S assessment for this term. Learners are taught

to be business minded and self sufficient. The most delicious food, cakes and

sweets were on sale from our young entrepreneurs and the project was a huge

success.

SPORT

We would once again like to extend a note of thanks to Mr. Mellet (Principal)

and Mr. Spies (Sports Manager) at De Kuilen High School for affording our

senior (grade 7,8 &9) learners the privilege of participating in

Netball, Hockey and Rugby at their school.

De Kuilen High School encourages learners to get involved in sport and they

welcome us to use their facilities and our learners get exposed to their best

coaching methods.

I just want to say that it was such a pleasure facilitating “Shine Girl” at Hebron but what impressed me the most were the teachers. I was overwhelmed by your commitment to the students and your love for them, I can see that it is not just a job for you, it's your passion to see those girls flourish and do well. I was imagining if I had teachers like that when I was at school, what a difference it would have made in my life. I pray God blesses you all and Hebron Christian Academy in a mighty way, exceedingly and abundantly more than you could ever ask or imagine! Love you ladies!!! Blessings, Tersha Wakefield

SHINE GIRL

We had the privilege of presenting the “Shine Girl” course at Hebron for our grade 7—9 girls.

Many girls and women do not realise how valuable and unique they are. The purpose of “Shine Girl” is to gain an understanding of one’s worth, strength, purpose and potential as a female

The course was facilitated by Mrs. Davina Wakefield, Miss Tersha Wakefield (Hillsongs Church), Mrs. Lynette Farquhar, Mrs. Gonda Viljoen and Miss Sonja Maritz.

A special word of thanks to Hillsongs Church for presenting and sponsoring this most beneficial course!

LITTLE HEBRON

Little Hebron has re-located to 1 Langverwacht Road, Kuils River from September 2014. The aftercare is still being run by Little Hebron but the children will remain on the school premises at 21 Digtebij Crescent.

We wish them God’s richest blessings at their new premises.

LADIES OUTREACH

On Tuesday 29th July the Hebron Ladies group

held an outreach for the unemployed who stand

along Langverwacht Road. They handed out

sandwiches. Mrs. Lynette Farquhar shared a

short word with the men and prayed for favour

over their lives as they seek employment.

On Tuesday 25th August the Hebron Ladies group

visited the “Rock-a-bye” home for destitute babies.

They are in desperate need of nappies and milk

appreciate any donations you would like to make.
