Here is a very simple guide, describing how to upsample yourself the files, the way I

do, to get the best from the totally uncompressed music that I upload and plenty enjoy

it!

1. Download and Install Sony Sound Forge 10 and Sony Cd Architect 5.2

2. Open Sound Forge, click "File", then "Open" and choose the file you want toprepare.

The program will present it as sound wave.

3. Now, go to "Process", select "Resample" - "Resample" - preset "Untitled"

Then put the rate you want in the relevant box. I recommend using 96.000Hz for solo

instruments music or music for small ensembles and 192.000Hz, for orchestral

works.

Set the interpolation accuracy to the maximum =4 and click Ok. Do not check any

box. The operation begins.

4. Once that finished, go once more to "Process" , choose "Bit depth" - "Bit depth

converter, choose again preset "Untitled" and from the drop list choose 24.

No dither, nor noise shaping, nothing else, just 24, and click Ok.5 After you have finished with that, go to "File" - "Save as" - "Save as type" and

choose Audio Interchangeable format (AIFF) (*aif). It is slightly better than Microsoft

wave (*wav). Then choose Default template, put a name for the file and pres OK. It

will save your file where you want with the settings you`ve made before.

Always see if the format is PCM. aif is always PCM, but wav has several other

formats too.

6. After processing all files in the same way, open Cd Architect, press "File" - "New"

- "Audio" and set the resample quality to "best"

7. From the "View" menu choose only "Media Pool" and "Track List".

8 Again "File" - "Open media", check the boxes: "Add to timeline" and "Create

tracks", and choose the files in the order you want them to be written.

9 The program will add the tracks in the media pool and the timeline in wave forms.

Then, at the bottom and left, press Track list.

10 Uncheck the boxes "prot" and emph", choose the gap you want to exist between

the tracks by right-clicking, under the pause line and then choosing edit.

If you want, for example, to inert a 10 seconds pause between the 3rd and 4th track,

you must put a value of 00:00:10:00 at the 4th track`s box.

11. Now, on the top of your screen you will see two symbols in the form of a disk. To

the right of them there are some others symbols.

Press the second, the one with an arrow looking downwards inside a box.12. Then put an audio cd in your recorder and press the first of the two discs I

mentioned before; it should get red.

13. The "Burn-at-once audio cd" box will appear.

Set the speed to the lowest value (4), check "Burn CD`s" and "Render temporary

image before burning". This is very important, because the program prepares thus the

data BEFORE burning them, in order to make all the necessary adjustments

(=downsampling) for the optimum burning result. This will take an extra time which

depends on the speed of your computer,

Do not check "Buffer underrun protection", unless your computer is very, very

unstable.

The program follows the strict red book rules and sets the max. recording time to 74minutes. Do not bother about it. The actual limit nowadays is 79:57 minutes.

So, If you get an error message about recording time, just ignore it and press Write

14. I would suggest that you disconnect from the internet during burning, because I

`ve noticed some interferences.

15. VERY IMPORTANT: Do not do anything during the burning process, like

opening ang closing folders, programs etc. This is a very delicate program and if youdo such things, you will most probably end with a useless, unfinished cd.

16 Take the disc, put it in your stereo system and, all of a sudden, you will experience

some very, very pleasant feelings.
