Eleanor Bowley’s work is mainly decorative using traditional methods of paper col-lage combined with stitching, fabrics and haberdashery embellishments.
She often tries to source waste materials such as discarded fabrics from textile de-signers and second hand buttons. She usually deconstructs elements of clothing and uses the fabrics as a base. She traces using a freehand stitch on a sewing machine, over images especially those of the face. She loves the unevenness of the lines and as she works from back to front the unpredictability of the final image. Eleanor rarely uses the computer to develop her work except for creating a final digital file.
