“Never doubt that a group of thoughtful and committed people can change the world;indeed it is the only thing that does.” - Margaret Mead

We all have a journey to travel, and as we follow our path, a story develops. As the National Ability Center looks back on yet another extraordinary year, we are inspired by how our own story has evolved. This evolution would not have been possible without the incredible commitment and generosity received from a community of people who have invested in our mission through the sharing of their time, talents and treasures. Our story began 30 years ago with humble beginnings but with one goal–to empower people of all abilities through programs that challenge, educate and engage. We achieve this goal each time someone discovers new possibilities that lead to an improved quality of life.

This includes families like Kris and Steve Ward and their son Jared: “The National Ability Center has become part of our family over the past three years. Skiing and horseback riding are Jared’s main physical activities. Those opportunities would not be possible without the National Ability Center. It has become a lifesaver and a passion for all of us. What you do is life-changing for families like ours and so many others!”

At the National Ability Center, we help individuals of all abilities and their families tell a different story; a story of hope, resilience and ability. And we are honored to play a part in these achievements. In 2015, we served 4,100 participants through 28,000 sport, recreation and educational experiences. In addition to those we serve, are the volunteers–1,200 strong–who play an essential role in helping us achieve our mission. We would not be where we are today without more than 25,000 hours of donated time, representing a $576,750 investment in our mission within the past year. Today, thousands of individuals comprise the vivid tapestry of our extended family and together we are changing lives and writing new stories along the way. We are proud that our impact extends beyond Utah, to include people from across the nation and around the world.

It is because of you that even more individuals of all abilities are empowered to discover new possibilities for themselves each and every day. And, every year our impact grows as we reach even more children, families and veterans who need our programs and services. We look forward to writing a new chapter with your help. Together, we will change the world and create a global impact for people of all abilities.

Sincerely,

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & 2015 BOARD PRESIDENT Creating Change Together

Gail Loveland, Executive Director6/2010-present
