PART IV: ESTIMATED ANNUAL EXPENSES

Immigration regulations require Cooper Union to verify that students seeking F-1 status have sufficient funds to support their studies for the

duration of their academic program. This includes both tuition and living expenses. We estimate living expenses to be approximately

$20,165 per year. We look to see readily available funds for at least the first year of study and proof of financial capability to cover future

years of study. Be sure to review our tuition and fees online to determine how much financial support you will need to complete your

program.

Your financial support can come from any combination of the following sources in the United States or abroad. We do strongly

recommend that at least a portion of your financial support comes from your home country. This can be very important in your ability to

obtain an F-1 visa.

□ Financial support or funding from “sponsors” (parents, guardians, relatives, friends, business, and organizations)

□ Free room & board

□ Government funding

□ Scholarship

□ Personal funding from your own personal bank account

Calculating your Estimated Annual Expenses

Please use this table to calculate your estimated annual expenses

*The tuition for the graduate students in the Engineering school is charged per credit ($1,310 per credit).

F-1 international students are required to be registered for at least 9 credits per term. The estimated tuition expenses for graduate

Engineering ($23,580) listed above is based on 9 credits per term.

Important Notes

Please note that this estimate is for the

academic year, not the calendar year.

We recommend budgeting additional

funds if you plan to stay in the U.S. over

the summer.

-Art & Architecture students

should budget an additional $800

yearly for materials and supplies

-Room & Board is based on the

average cost of a shared

apartment or private home.

-Insurance is required for all

Cooper students. Students are

automatically enrolled in

Cooper’s insurance plan, but can

waive the plan with comparable

insurance.

-Transportation expenses are an

estimate of how much you’ll

spend for local transportation.

You should budget additional

funds for any travel to and from

your home country, or the costs of

owning a car.
