FALL 2018

Facilities FALL 2018

No Back to School Blues…Many Hyland Hills families are already thinking about fall and the upcoming school year, as we have been here at Hyland Hills. You can see in this Activities Guide that we have scheduled plenty of fall activities for everyone, whether you are a single individual, family, or a group of friends looking for some recreational fun.

There is, however, still some summer left to take a spin on the Ragin’ Colorado River at Water World, open weekends through Labor Day, or take on the ropes challenge at Adventure Golf & Raceway, then play a round of fantastic miniature golf, where we are open through the first freeze of winter.

For fall, we have some exciting youth program choices, including after school and boredom buster activities, sports, like tackle football, knee-knocker soccer, wrestling, and basketball, just to name a few. Our adult programs are designed to provide recreational challenge, strength and fitness, beneficial learning and creative outlets to keep you busy, fit and happy. Keep in mind that some fall programs have limited space available, so please plan early to ensure that your family is not left out.

You might also want to start planning a special family gathering at a Clear Creek Valley Park pavilion, take a spin on a rink at the Ice Centre at the Promenade, join an adult sports league at the Carroll Butts Indoor Sports Arena, or consider a round of golf on our championship courses, where those facilities are open year round, weather permitting.

The District will also host some very special fall events, like free concerts in cooperation with the North Metro Arts Alliance, PARKFEST (See page 15) in September, the Halloween Spooktacular, Breakfast with Santa, and much more. We hope you will join us for some of these very special community events for fun that we can all enjoy together.

The Board of Directors and I wish everyone a wonderful start to the new school year, and once again encourage everyone to take full advantage of the quality recreation programs offered here in this guide by Hyland Hills. More information is available at www.hylandhills.org where your input is always welcome.

HYLAND HILLS FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT The 26th Annual Hyland Hills Foundation Golf Tournament was a great success with more than 200 golfers joining the fun in July. The event raises thousands of dollars every year to support free swim lessons for District kids and recreational sports grants that are given to area kids who want to play a variety of sports but can’t afford it. It is the goal of the Foundation that no young person will ever be turned away from playing a sport because of their family’s financial circumstance.ANNUAL RANUM/WESTY GOLF TOURNAMENT

TEES OFF SEPTEMBER 21ST The Westy-Ranum Alumni Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, September 21st. All alumni are invited to get in on the fun by contacting Nicole at (303) 650-7506 to sign up.

MOVIES IN THE PARK WITH ADAMS COUNTY FAIR Hyland Hills partnered with the Adams County Fair in June and July for some great movies in the park on their 30-foot screen. One event was a super hero themed night that was held in conjunction with Adventure Golf & Raceway. The other was a well-attended community event held at Camenisch Park in Federal Heights. Thank you to the Adams County Fair staff for bringing these movies to our facilities!

WATER WORLD’S NEW RIDE .... Water World introduced a new attraction this summer called Glacier Run. The ride quickly became a crowd favorite to combat the heat, possibly because carefully constructed theming provided the icy feel of being surrounded by glaciers and friendly penguins. The high-capacity ride enables eight riders to race down a five-story slide at a very fast pace…sort of like penguins do!

.... AND A COMPETITION THAT FLOPPED!Belly Floppers were at it again at Water World this season, capturing the interest of news media and a crowd that couldn’t bear to look, but couldn’t bear to look away either, from the highly entertaining event. Congratulations to the winners who were judged on the sound of the belly smack, the redness of the belly, and of course, the crowd applause.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS MINI GOLF Adventure Golf & Raceway will again offer its three magical miniature golf courses decked out for the season with dazzling lights and sparkling displays from November through the New Year. Sip hot cocoa and holiday spirits, for those 21 and older, and roast s’mores as you enjoy holiday golfing fun. Visit AdventureGolfandRaceway.com for hours and discounts.
