Hydrogen Peroxide ( H2O2 ) Hydrogen peroxide H2O2 chemical formula invented by Louis Jacques Thenard in 1818 . This compound is an inorganic chemical that has strong oxidizing properties . Raw material for making hydrogen peroxide is hydrogen gas ( H2 ) and oxygen gas ( O2 ) . The technology is widely used in the auto industry is the hydrogen peroxide oxidation of anthraquinone . H2O2 is colorless , odorless typical bit of acidity , and well soluble in water . Under normal conditions ( ambient conditions ) , hydrogen peroxide is very stable with a decomposition rate of approximately less than 1 % per year . The majority of the use of hydrogen peroxide is to utilize and manipulate the decomposition reaction , which essentially produces oxygen . In the stage production of hydrogen peroxide , a chemical stabilizer material is usually added with the intent to impede the rate of decomposition . Including the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in the product during storage . In addition to generating oxygen , hydrogen peroxide decomposition reaction also produces water ( H2O ) and heat . Exothermic decomposition reaction that occurs is as follows : H2O2 - > H2O + + 23:45 1/2O2 kcal / mol

Exothermic decomposition reaction that occurs is as follows :

H2O2 - > H2O + + 23:45 1/2O2 kcal / mol

Factors affecting hydrogen peroxide decomposition reaction is :

1 . Certain organic materials , such as alcohol and gasoline2 . Catalysts , such as Pd , Fe , Cu , Ni , Cr , Pb , Mn3 . Temperature , the rate of hydrogen peroxide decomposition reaction increased by 2.2 x every 10 ° C rise ( in the temperature range 20 - 100oC )4 . Container uneven surface ( surface active )5 . Suspended solids , such as dust particles or other impurities6 . The higher pH ( more alkaline ) the higher the rate of decomposition

Hydrogen peroxide can be used as an astringent bleach or bleaching agent in the pulp , paper , and textiles . These compounds are also commonly used in wastewater treatment processes , chemical industry , manufacture of detergents , food and beverage , medical , and electronics industries ( manufacture PCBs ) .

One of the benefits of hydrogen peroxide compared to other oxidizing nature that is environmentally friendly because it does not leave harmful residues . Oksidatornya strength can be adjusted as needed . For example in the pulp and paper industry , the use of hydrogen peroxide is usually combined with NaOH or caustic soda . The more alkaline, the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide even higher . Hydrogen peroxide needs of the industry will continue to increase from year to year . Although currently in Indonesia have been there several factories producing hydrogen peroxide Peroxide Indonesia such as PT Pratama , PT Degussa Peroxide Indonesia , and PT Inti Samator Peroxide , but domestic demand still remains to be imported .
