INNOVATIVE DYNOS FOR YOUR SPECIFIC TESTING TASKS

60 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURING OF DYNAMOMETERS

Market requirements

• High measurement accuracy and reproducibility• High dynamic control and stability of defined test cycles• High operational availability• Quick response and competent after-sales service and spare parts support• Suitable dynamometer based on the customer’s test application• Low installation costs

From the market leaders in powertrain development

With more than 60 years of experience in the manufacturing of dynamometers, AVL ZÖLLNER MARINE is an expert in this field in terms of both technology and customer service. We value our customers as partners. Our team of experts is dedicated to meeting your needs with a carefully planned and perfectly implemented solution.

HIGHLIGHTS AT A GLANCE

The main advantages of this system are its flexible application for a wide speed and power range up to 140 MW, precise speed and torque measurement (system torque measurement accuracy ± 0.2% F.S.), excellent control stability, high reliability and extremely long service life, as well as the fact that it is suitable for steady-state and transient test cycles.

• Low investment costs per kW and Nm• Low infrastructure demands on testbed

water supply (any stable pressure between 0.5–2 bar)

• Available with one or two operating directions• Low moment of inertia combined with a compact,

robust design • Unsusceptible to thermal stress even during ag-

gressive test cycles

AVL HYDRAULIC DYNAMOMETERS – THE SYSTEM IN DETAIL

The AVL Zöllner Marine hydraulic dynamometers function according to the Föttinger principle. The mechanical energy delivered by the test object is transformed into heat and transported by the water flowing through the dynamometer. There is a mixture of air and water in the working chamber during operation. The loading torque depends on the speed and water level. The hydraulic dynamo-meter is controlled by the water fill level.

The fully digital BME control unit from AVL pro-vides an integrated and proven solution for the operation, control and monitoring of the dynamo-meters and the test objects (optional). The user-friendly operator interface allows an easy handling with various I/O signals. Standard interfaces support communication with automation systems. Alternatively, the equipment is available with the AVL PUMATM automation system.

The BME offers the choice of different automatic and manual operating modes for speed, torque and power. By entering presets for the BME, the engine and the dynamometer are simultaneously

controlled by the separate presets and the moni-tored values. The throttle control is the interface between the BME and the engine.

Additional benefits • High permissible additional coupling weight• Suitable lubrication systems depending on

the dynamometer range • Shaft with two coupling flanges as a standard

feature• Internal components made of high-quality

materials for extremely high performance with very low service requirements for the entire service life

• Upgradeable from stand-alone to fully automated testbed

• Standard interfaces of the control unit for communication with an automation system

• Comprehensive, user-friendly AVL control unit allows for various operating modes and test cycles
