Hybrid solar PV systems combine solar photovol-taic energy with another energy source, like a die-sel generator or the grid, to provide power to an installation.

The system uses all the solar power available and will complement the demand of the installation with the grid or the generator. Thus, during the daylight most of the energy will come from the sun.

Hybrid systems can be isolated, when the alter-native source is a generator set, or grid-tied, when the alternative source is the grid.

Hybrid solar systems allow the owner to increase their energy independence by reducing the per-centage of energy from non-controllable cost (e.g. electric bill and diesel cost).
