How did the project start?

• Trends of MSD sickness absence identified in a specific work line.

• Pilot study at a single location in the UK reviewed medical

fill process.

• Provide ergonomic advice, training and recommendations.

• BWPG training programme was developed by ctchealthcare.

• Award winning project- dedication to excellence and innovation

in EHS and sustainability.

MethodDesign

• Training programme developed by ctchealthcare.

• UK supervisors were trained on the content and delivery of BWPG.

Groups:

A: Received BWPG training from a qualified Physiotherapist and a

copy of the BWPG

B: Received BWPG training from a supervisor of the company

and a copy of the BWPG

C: Received a copy of the BWPG only

D: Control group

Data Collection

• Mixed methodological approach.

• Quantitative data- pre and postwritten test based on content of the BWPG training.

• Qualitative- focus group and 1-1 interviews.

Quantitative Results

• BWPG training is an effective method to increase

knowledge and understanding.

• Individuals who received training from a

Physiotherapist made the greatest statistical

improvement overall in all sections of training.

• The age, years of employment and previous training

did not appear to influence the effectiveness of BWPG

training.

Conclusion

• BWPG is an effective method of preventing injury and promoting good practice.

• Almost 10% improvement in MSD sickness absence days in the first year of the implementation of the BWPG & EWE programme (UK statistics).

• Efficacious communication is the key to the project’s success.

• BWPG now translated into several

languages.

Future Development

• Update of BWPG to cover all new development lines.

• Use of innovative portal to monitor high risk areas (EWE).

• Development and utilisation of other sources of communication

to increase availability of information and access.

• Promotion of the projects to all UK company sites and eventually

internationally.

• Develop an international communications team dedicated to the

promotion of all wellbeing initiatives and Day 1 Service provision.

• Online training programme is currently being developed.
