she fasts everyday, gets up for theacts of worship every night, sets

free a few slaves and donates herwealth in the way of God. A bad-tongued woman who hurts herhusband in this way, is the first

person who enters hell.[Bihar al-Anwar, vol 76, p 363]

The Prophet (s) of God : Any man who

permits his wife, who has adornedherself, to leave the house, is a mean-spirited person, and whoever calls him

as such, would not have committedany sin. And any woman whose

husband permits her to leave thehouse adorned and perfumed, with

each step that she takes, God wouldbuild a house for her husband in hell.

The Holy Prophet (s) of God :The women of Paradise say tothose women who abuse theirhusbands in this way: May God

kill you. Do not misbehave withyour husband. This man (the

husband) is not yours, and you

do not deserve him. Soon hewill leave you and come

Whenever the Prophet (s)was free from his work, he

used to sew his clothes,repair his shoes and used to

work at home like othermen.

Imam Sadiq (a) : Anywoman who bothers her

husband and distresses himis distant from the blessings

of God and any woman whorespects her husband, is

obedient and does notcause him sorrow, is blessedand prosperous.


There is a tradition reported

There is a tradition reportedthat the Holy Prophet (s) was

informed of a good womanwho fasted everyday and

worshipped God every night,

but she had an ill-disposedcharacter and would hurt her

neighbours with her sharptongue. The Holy Prophet (s)

stated: There is no good in her

and she is an inhabitant of hell.[Bihar al-Anwar, vol 103, p 253]

The Prophet (s) of God : Heis not one of us (followers of

Prophet (s)) who possessesmoney but keeps his family

away from his wealth.

The Holy Prophet (s) of God :

Any woman who is notcompatible with her husband

and persuades him to act

beyond his capacity, then herdeeds would not be accepted

by God. She would taste thewrath of God on the Day ofResurrection.

are those who show

appreciation when theirhusbands bring home

something and are notdiscontented if nothing isbrought home.

woman who is not compatible withher husband, is not content withwhat God has blessed them with,and treats her husband harshly bydemanding him to give more than

he is able, then her acts (orworship) are not acceptable by

God and He will be angry with her.

Imam Sadiq (a) : There isnothing better in the world

than a good wife. And agood wife is the one whose

husband, becomes gladupon seeing her.

Imam Reza (a) : There are a groupof women who raise manychildren. They are kind and

sympathetic. They support theirhusbands in times of difficulty andin the affairs of this world and thenext. These women do not commit

any acts which would incur a lossupon their husbands nor multiplytheir difficulties.

Imam Sajjad (a) : One of therights of a woman upon her

husband is that he shouldforgive her ignorance and

foolishness.

Imam Sadiq (a) : Anywoman who says to herhusband that she has not

seen any good things fromhim then she has fallen in

her credibility and hasvoided her acts of worship.

father [Imam al-Baqir (a)],stated: Whoever marries,

must respect his wife.

bad woman does not forgiveher husbands mistake and

does not accept his apology.

their deeds become good.

her kindly, because she isunder your surety, and youshould feed and dress her,and forgive her ignorant

The Prophet (s) of God : The bestof your women is one who givesbirth to many children, is loving

and chaste, who does not submitto the will of her relatives but is

obedient towards her husband,adorns herself only for herhusband and protects herself from

strangers, listens to her husbandand obeys him, accedes to hiswishes in privacy and does not

women under allcircumstances and speak to

them well; (and by doing so)it may make their actionscorrect.

obeys her relatives but does notsubmit to the wishes of her

husband, is barren and vindictive,

is not afraid of committing baddeeds, adorns herself in the

absence of her husband, would

every occasion, would grant him

the reward of patience of HazratAyyub (a).

herself and leaves thehouse, is deprived from the

blessings of the AlmightyGod until she returns home.

The Prophet (s) of God : Whoever,falsely, accuses his wife of

committing adultery would lose allthe benefits from his good deeds

just as a snake sheds its skin. Andfor each hair on his body, one

thousand sins would be written

down in his record (for the Day ofJudgment)

who is obedient towards herhusband, adorns herself for

her husband but does notreveal her adornment tostrangers; and the worst of

your women is one whoadorns herself in the

not to appear before her with anunpleasant appearance. If he did(the above mentioned), then he

would take care of her rights.

according to his desires.

The worst of women is theone who is stubborn and

obstinate.

behaved is more completein his faith. The best amongyou (the people) is one who

does good to his family.

The worst of women is theone who is barren, dirty,

obstinate and disobedient.

The Prophet (s) of God :Any woman who toleratesher husbands bad temper,

will be rewarded by God inthe same way that He

rewarded Asiyah, thedaughter of Muzahim.

best of your women is theone who, upon seeing her

husbands anger, tells him: Isubmit to your will. Sleepwill not pass over my eyes

unless you become contentwith me.

who perfumes herself,prepares food skillfully andwould not overindulge in

spending. Such a woman isone of the workforce of God

and a person who works forGod would never have to face

mans family members are hisdependents. Thus whoever isbestowed with the blessings of

God, should expand on hisdependents comfort, or elsesuch blessings may be taken

away from him.

God: What good (reward) isawaiting a woman who performs

her duties in her husbands house?

The Prophet (s) stated: For everyactivity that she does concerningthe household matters, God looks

on her kindly, and whoever enjoysthe grace of God would not be

tormented.

Hasan ibn Jiham says: I saw Imam Ali(a) who had dyed his hair. I asked if

indeed he had dyed his hair. He stated:Yes, adornment of man (for the sake of

his wife) helps her keep her chastity.

Women who deviate from the path ofchastity do so due to the carelessnessand faults of their husbands. Imam Ali

(a) then stated: Do you like to see yourwife untidy? I replied:.No. He thenadded: She thinks just as you do.

overindulge in spending. Such awoman is a representative ofand one of the workforce of God,

and a person who works for Godwould never be faced with regret

The Prophet (s) of God : You(men) must make yourselvestidy and be prepared for yourwives, as you would like them(your women) to be prepared

for you.


The Prophet (s) of God : When a

woman becomes pregnant, Godrewards her as much as He would to

someone who goes forJihad (holywar) with all his wealth and life.

Then when she delivers her baby, acall would reach her stating all your

sins are forgiven; start a new life

again. Each time she feeds her babywith her milk, God gives her rewardequal to that of freeing a slave for

order of the house, takessomething from somewhere andplaces it somewhere else, would

enjoy the grace of God, andwhoever attracts the blessings ofGod, would not be tormented by

prophets of God is that theyare all kind towards their

Whoever insults his family,would lose happiness in his life.
