Media Center News: Grab your hat and read with the cat!

Next Wednesday, March 2, is national “Read Across America” day. Students, teachers and families across America will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Seuss by encouraging children to read. At school we will have some fun “Seussical” events all week long but on Wednesday we will have a crazy hat day. Students are invited to wear their favorite or silliest hat in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Classes in the Media Center will play Dr. Seuss trivia all week and many classrooms are planning special activities and events.

A child’s ability to read has a direct effect on their future success. Reading with your child helps to increase their vocabulary and improves their reading comprehension. We encourage everyone to pick up a book and read to a child in honor of Dr. Seuss next week. Whether it’s your favorite Dr. Seuss book or something new and exciting: Grab your hat and read with the cat!
