ABOUT HIT

• HIT works as an integrated business organisation (hub) on activities of Advanced Technology Transfer(ATT) for its shareholders, and of entrepreneurial acceleration & education for its shareholders, localstart-ups and SMEs for local economic value generation

• As an ATT centre, HIT works with its shareholders’ scientists to support the protection, developmentand commercialisation of their novel technologies through licensing, innovative start-up formation,incubation and investment

• HIT hosts and manages a co-working space for growth acceleration and pre-incubation of innovativestart-ups + Contamination Lab where students and scientists work together with industrial partners

• HIT is core partner in the KIC on Raw Materials and the HIT’s founding members FBK and Universityof Trento host the Italian co-location centre (CLC) of the KIC EIT Digital

• In 2016 HIT achieved target of 30% of self-financing by participating in strategic, policy-driven,international projects, (e.g. EIT Digital), for start up acceleration and activities of education toinnovation & entrepreneurship

HIT AND REGIONAL SMART SPECIALISATION STRATEGY

On behalf of the Autonomous Province of Trento, HIT is in charge of the implementation of research-industryplatforms in the areas of Smart Specialisation Strategy

European Regional Development Fund (ERDF 2014-2020) breakdown figures:54,9 M€ (51%) for strengthening research, technological development and innovation

of which 32,6 M€ on research infrastructures focused on AVM (e.g. PROM facility)27,7 M€ (26%) for enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs

HIT AND VANGUARD INITIATIVE

• Important added value to enhance regional investments in the area of Mechatronics, which is one ofthe main priority areas of our Smart Specialisation Strategy

• The project “Polo della Meccatronica (Mechatronic Park)” represents the effort of the Province in thisrespect and hosts the ProM Facility (Prototyping Mechatronics), providing companies specialised inmechatronics industry an integrated platform for designing, developing, implementing, validating thesystems and the manufacturing processes.

• Coordination carried out by the EU Liaison office based in Brussels while the link and involvement ofthe enterprises will be established and managed by Trentino Sviluppo with HIT.
