Summary

Incumbents in the Coordinator Service series provide a diverse range of customer service and/or routine general services and support to a specified department or area. Incumbents may perform clerical services, equipment operation, basic maintenance and repair, materials handling, logistical support, and/or other related duties in accordance with the day-to-day requirements of the specified department or area.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Coordinator Service III is distinguished from the Coordinator Service II in that incumbents in the III position have more responsibility to train, and guide employees and possess the knowledge and experience to perform complex tasks in a larger program, department, or area.

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

The Coordinator Service III reports to a Program Coordinator, Manager, or Director. This classification trains and guides part-time and/or student employees.

Typical Functions

1. May oversee the day-to-day operations of a small retail, dining area, service program, or a subsidiary department.

2. May coordinate events and activities.3. Trains, guides, and oversees student and/or part-time employees.4. May update and maintain operations manuals.5. May assist with development of menus.6. Maintains cleanliness of assigned area.7. Participates in meetings as required.8. May distribute goods.9. Ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.10. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.11. May process faculty requests, purchase and maintain inventory, and price materials.12. Maintains tools and equipment.13. Ensures staffing and operational needs remain within budgetary limits.14. May schedule, bill, and staff events.

15. Maintains relationships and coordinates special projects with University staff, students, and the general public.

16. Establishes, maintains, and updates files, databases, records, and other documents.17. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Field specific knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in recruitment notice.2. Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.3. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.4. Knowledge of inventory management procedures.5. Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.6. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.7. Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.8. Basic computer skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.9. Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.10. Knowledge of University policies and procedures.11. Skilled in organizing and coordinating the training and work of others.12. Ability to take initiative and work without close supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience; or an associate degree plus two years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Employees may work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. Employees often use repetitive hand motions and may be required to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) for distances greater than five feet. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions, such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting.
